Job Overview
The Medical Sales & Business Development Executive will lead CLF Medical Uganda’s initiative to grow its institutional healthcare business by acquiring new B2B clients and strengthening existing hospital partnerships across the nation. This role requires strategic planning and proactive outreach to achieve sustainable revenue growth.
Based in Kampala, the executive will travel regularly to regional health facilities, engaging with doctors, administrators, and procurement officers to understand needs and present tailored solutions. They will collaborate with product, marketing, and logistics teams to ensure solutions are competitive and delivered on schedule.
Success in this role will be measured by growth in sales volume, market share, and the number of long-term contracts secured. The executive will also contribute to improving healthcare access by ensuring reliable supply of essential medical products and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement targeted sales strategies to acquire new private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers throughout Uganda’s major regions and improve market penetration.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers, including chief medical officers and procurement heads, to foster trust and repeat business consistently.
- Conduct product demonstrations, technical workshops, and clinical presentations to showcase CLF Medical’s equipment, diagnostics, and consumable solutions to healthcare professionals effectively and safely.
- Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing structures that balance profitability with customer satisfaction while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements consistently.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify new business opportunities and adjust sales tactics for optimal performance in dynamic environments.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, activity reports, and performance dashboards for senior management to support strategic planning and resource allocation decisions on a monthly basis.
- Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery, proper installation, and after-sales support for all sold medical equipment nationwide.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Uganda’s healthcare regulations, tender processes, and public-private partnership initiatives to advise clients and influence purchasing decisions effectively and ethically.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field from a recognized university with strong academic performance and relevant coursework.
- Minimum of five years proven experience in medical sales, healthcare business development, or B2B sales within Uganda or the broader East African region.
- Strong understanding of Uganda’s healthcare system, including private hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and public health institutions, and their procurement processes to navigate complex sales cycles.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English, with proficiency in Luganda or Runyankore considered advantageous for building rapport with local stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to travel frequently across Uganda, manage a dynamic sales pipeline, and consistently meet or exceed quarterly revenue targets while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency in using CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools to track sales activities and generate performance reports on a regular basis.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution to enhance strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
- Prior experience working with medical equipment manufacturers or distributors in a technical sales or application support role to gain deep product knowledge and customer insight.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zoho for tracking customer interactions, managing leads, and forecasting sales to improve sales efficiency.
- Demonstrated success in launching new healthcare products or services into institutional markets, resulting in increased adoption and revenue growth within competitive environments.
- Experience in conducting market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback surveys to inform product positioning and pricing strategies to drive informed business decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams across diverse healthcare settings to achieve collaborative outcomes.
