Job Overview

Mutego Distributors Ltd is seeking three experienced Depot Managers to oversee operations in the Mid-Western Uganda region, covering the Tooro and Bunyoro areas. As the exclusive distributor of Pepsi products in this territory, the company plays a vital role in delivering beverages to retailers, wholesalers, and consumers. The Depot Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth depot operations, achieving sales targets, and leading a motivated team of sales and logistics staff.

Key Responsibilities

The Depot Manager will supervise daily depot activities, including inventory receipt, storage, and dispatch of Pepsi products. This involves coordinating with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels and minimizing losses through proper handling and storage practices.

Another core duty is to develop and implement sales strategies that align with company goals. The manager will analyze market trends, set realistic targets for the sales team, and monitor performance against key performance indicators.

Leadership of the sales and distribution team is essential. The Depot Manager will recruit, train, and mentor supervisors and promoters, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and integrity.

Building strong relationships with key customers such as supermarkets, wholesalers, and hospitality outlets is also required. The manager will negotiate contracts, resolve complaints, and identify new business opportunities to expand market share.

Finally, the role includes ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and financial procedures. Preparing weekly and monthly reports for senior management and managing the depot budget are integral parts of the job.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, Economics, Accounting and Finance, or a related field. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding business operations and financial management.

A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in sales and distributorship within the soft drinks or fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry is required. Prior exposure to Pepsi or similar beverage brands will be considered an advantage.

Proven ability to design and execute sales strategies that consistently meet or exceed targets is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of achieving sales growth in competitive markets.

Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity are non‑negotiable. The Depot Manager must be able to lead diverse teams, make sound decisions, and uphold the company’s reputation for reliability.

Experience in managing sales teams, setting quotas, and conducting performance appraisals is required. Familiarity with the local languages and cultural nuances of the Tooro and Bunyoro regions will be a plus, facilitating better communication with customers and staff.
