Job Overview

The Graduate Internship Program (GRIP) FY27 offers ten positions for recent Ugandan graduates with no prior work experience. Interns will be placed in Kampala and work across various sectors of World Vision Uganda, including program management, monitoring and evaluation, and community engagement.

This twelve-month internship runs from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027, providing a structured learning environment where interns receive mentorship from seasoned professionals. The program aims to build practical skills in humanitarian work while reinforcing Christian values and leadership abilities.

Interns will contribute to projects that support children, families, and communities in overcoming poverty and injustice. By the end of the fellowship, participants will have a portfolio of field experience, a professional network, and a deeper understanding of development work in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist project officers in designing and implementing community-based interventions that address child protection, education, and livelihood challenges in targeted rural and semi-urban districts.
• Support monitoring and evaluation activities by collecting field data, entering information into databases, and helping prepare monthly progress reports for senior management.
• Conduct household visits and focus group discussions to gather beneficiary feedback, ensuring that program activities remain relevant and responsive to community needs.
• Collaborate with local partners, faith-based groups, and government officials to coordinate outreach events, workshops, and training sessions that promote health, hygiene, and nutrition awareness.
• Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and visual aids for internal meetings and donor visits, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from ongoing projects.
• Maintain accurate records of beneficiary registrations, attendance sheets, and distribution logs, ensuring data quality and confidentiality strictly in accordance with organizational policies.
• Participate in weekly team meetings, training workshops, and devotional sessions, sharing insights and learning from peers while upholding the Christian ethos of the organization.
• Undertake any tasks assigned by supervisors that contribute to the mission of World Vision Uganda, showing flexibility, initiative, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Be a Ugandan citizen with a valid national identification card, proof of residency, and be able to provide a recent police clearance certificate.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained within the last two years from a recognized university, with a minimum of Second-Upper Class honours.
• Be aged 26 years or younger at the time of application, and actively participate in a local church or fellowship.
• Demonstrate strong Christian values, leadership experience, and good moral character as evidenced by references from church leaders or community elders.
• Possess excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to prepare clear reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
• Be in good physical and emotional health, supported by a recent medical examination report from a recognized health facility within the last six months.

Desirable

• Previous volunteer experience with NGOs, community-based organizations, or faith-based groups is advantageous, showing commitment to service and familiarity with participatory approaches.
• Experience in data collection, data entry, or basic statistical analysis using Excel or similar software will be considered a plus.
• Knowledge of Ugandan local languages such as Luganda, Luo, or Runyankore enhances effectiveness when working directly with community members and improves trust building.
• Familiarity with child safeguarding policies and procedures, including reporting mechanisms, is desirable for ensuring a safe environment for beneficiaries and promotes accountability.
• Basic project management skills, such as setting objectives, developing work plans, and tracking progress, are helpful for supporting program activities.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote field sites for monitoring visits are considered advantageous for certain roles.
