Rubis
Job Overview
Rubis Uganda is inviting ambitious entrepreneurs to become authorized distributors for its premium range of high-quality lubricants across several strategic regions of the country. This opportunity is designed for individuals or entities that have the capacity to mobilize substantial working capital, manage a trained sales and distribution team, and possess at least one delivery vehicle. Successful candidates will represent a trusted international brand and will be responsible for expanding market presence in the Tooro, Ankole Kigezi, Masaka, Busoga, Bugisu and Central regions.
The role is not a traditional employment position but rather a business partnership where the distributor operates as an independent entity under the Rubis umbrella. Distributors will benefit from brand recognition, product support, and access to a proven supply chain while retaining entrepreneurial control over their operations. This model allows motivated businesspeople to leverage Rubis’ reputation for quality and reliability to grow a profitable venture in the lubricants market.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lubricant Distributor for Rubis Uganda, the primary responsibility will be to develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that drives product uptake within the assigned territory. This includes identifying potential customers such as garages, service stations, industrial plants, and automotive workshops, and presenting the value proposition of Rubis lubricants effectively.
Distributors must establish and maintain a reliable distribution network that ensures timely delivery of products to clients. This involves managing logistics, coordinating with the appointed van or fleet, and monitoring inventory levels to prevent stockouts. Regular route planning and optimization are essential to minimize transportation costs and maximize service efficiency.
Another critical duty is to build and lead a trainable sales and distribution team. The distributor is expected to recruit, train, and motivate sales representatives who can engage customers, handle inquiries, and close sales. Ongoing performance monitoring, incentive structuring, and capacity building are part of the team management function.
Financial management is also a key responsibility. Distributors must mobilize the required working capital (UGX 100 Million to 300 Million) to cover product purchases, operational expenses, and overheads. They are required to keep accurate financial records, manage cash flow, and ensure timely settlement of invoices with Rubis Uganda.
Finally, distributors must comply with all legal and regulatory obligations, including maintaining a valid trading license, tax compliance, and proper documentation. They will be expected to submit periodic sales reports and adhere to the brand guidelines set by Rubis to maintain consistency in market representation.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to raise sufficient working capital in the range of UGX 100 Million to 300 Million. This financial capacity is essential to purchase initial stock, cover operational costs such as salaries, fuel, and maintenance, and sustain the business during the early growth phases. Evidence of access to funds, whether through personal resources, loans, or investor support, will be required during the evaluation process.
A trainable sales and distribution team is a mandatory prerequisite. This means the applicant should either already have a team with basic sales aptitude that can be further developed, or have a clear plan to recruit and train individuals. The team should be capable of understanding product features, handling customer objections, and executing sales calls professionally.
Possession of at least one van is required to facilitate the distribution of lubricants across the designated region. The vehicle must be in good working condition, adequately sized to carry product volumes, and compliant with road safety regulations. Additional vehicles or logistics partners may be considered as the business scales.
While not mandatory, prior experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), automotive parts, oils, or related products will be considered an added advantage. Such experience indicates familiarity with channel management, customer engagement in technical product categories, and an understanding of supply chain dynamics specific to lubricants or similar items.
On the documentation side, applicants must submit proof of a registered company with a valid trading license, certificate of incorporation, tax compliance certificate, and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Tax Identification Number (TIN). These documents confirm the legitimacy of the business and its capacity to engage in formal trade.
Benefits & Perks
Although this is a business partnership rather than a salaried position, Rubis Uganda offers several supportive benefits that enhance the distributor’s chances of success. Distributors receive access to Rubis’ premium lubricant product portfolio, which is known for its quality, performance, and brand trust across East Africa. This product advantage can be a strong selling point when approaching potential customers.
Rubis provides technical and marketing support, including product training sessions, promotional materials, and guidance on best practices for storage and handling of lubricants. This assistance helps distributors maintain product integrity and effectively communicate value to end-users.
The company also facilitates access to its established supply chain, ensuring reliable product availability and competitive pricing. Distributors benefit from Rubis’ economies of scale, which can translate into better margins compared to sourcing independently.
Additionally, Rubis may offer performance-based incentives or rebate programs tied to volume achievement, encouraging distributors to meet and exceed sales targets. Such incentives can significantly boost profitability as the business grows.
From an operational standpoint, being associated with an internationally recognized brand like Rubis enhances credibility in the market. This reputation can open doors to larger contracts with corporate clients, fleet operators, and industrial customers who prefer to work with trusted suppliers.
How to Apply
Interested parties who meet the outlined criteria are invited to submit their expression of interest to the designated email address. The application should include a cover letter detailing the applicant’s background, financial capacity, team composition, and logistics capabilities, along with the required documentation copies.
