Job Overview

AS ONE MINISTRIES UGANDA COMPANY LIMITED seeks a dedicated Primary/High School Head Teacher to provide strategic, spiritual, and operational leadership for their school in Namutumba, Luuka, or Serere Community. This senior-level role ensures delivery of high-quality, Christ-centered education aligned with the organization’s mission and values. The Head Teacher holds full accountability for academic performance, staff welfare, student discipline, financial stewardship, and curriculum implementation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries leadership to translate the organization’s vision into daily school operations. Reporting to the Community Director, this position requires building a school culture rooted in excellence, integrity, and Biblical values while ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines. The role begins in January 2027 with one position available per community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall strategic direction for the school in line with AsOne Ministries’ mission, vision, and Christ-centered values.
  • Develop, implement, and review the school’s strategic and annual operational plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Set clear academic, spiritual, and operational targets, monitoring progress through regular assessment and data analysis.
  • Represent the school professionally to parents, government education offices, donors, and community stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ensure full compliance with Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines, policies, and regulations governing private educational institutions.
  • Champion continuous school improvement initiatives that enhance teaching quality, learning outcomes, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, professional development, performance management, and welfare to maintain a motivated and qualified team.
  • Manage student discipline systems that promote positive behavior, respect, and adherence to school values while ensuring fairness.
  • Exercise prudent financial stewardship of school resources, including budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and transparent reporting.
  • Ensure effective curriculum delivery that integrates academic excellence with Biblical principles across all grade levels and subjects.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from a recognized university, with teaching qualification certification.
  • Minimum five years of progressive teaching experience, including at least two years in school leadership or administration roles.
  • Proven track record of improving academic performance and implementing effective school improvement strategies in previous positions.
  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan education system, curriculum frameworks, and Ministry of Education policies and requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with diverse stakeholders including parents, staff, and officials.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and ability to provide spiritual leadership within an educational context.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in faith-based or NGO-managed educational settings with similar mission-driven approaches.
  • Familiarity with financial management principles and school budgeting processes in resource-constrained environments.
  • Training in child protection, safeguarding policies, and creating safe learning environments for students and staff.
  • Proficiency in educational technology integration and data-driven decision making for instructional improvement.
  • Experience in community outreach programs and building partnerships with local organizations for educational development.
