Job Overview

AsOne Ministries Uganda is seeking dedicated Nursery Teachers to join their growing team at AsOne Nursery & Primary School in Namutumba Community. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to holistic early childhood development in a Christ-centered environment. You will be instrumental in shaping the foundational years of young learners through spiritual, social, physical, and academic nurturing.

The position aligns with Uganda’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) curriculum and requires adherence to professional educator standards. Successful candidates will create safe, loving, and stimulating classrooms where children aged 3-6 can thrive and develop essential life skills. This is a full-time role starting in January 2027 with three positions available.

AsOne Ministries operates as a non-profit organization committed to ending poverty through holistic community transformation. Their education initiatives focus on rural underserved areas, making this role both professionally rewarding and socially impactful. The working hours are structured from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that integrate spiritual growth with academic learning according to the Uganda ECD framework.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive social interactions and emotional well-being for all children.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments to track each child’s developmental progress across cognitive, motor, language, and social domains.</li
  • Organize and lead age-appropriate activities including play-based learning, storytelling, music, art, and outdoor exploration to stimulate holistic development.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with parents or guardians regarding their child’s progress, behavior, and any developmental concerns.
  • Ensure classroom hygiene and safety standards are upheld at all times, including proper sanitation of toys and learning materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events as required by the Director of Studies.
  • Support the integration of Christian values into daily routines through prayer, Bible stories, and character-building activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of a Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Primary Teaching, or a related field from a recognized Ugandan institution.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience working with children aged 3-6 in a nursery, kindergarten, or early learning setting.
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication with children, parents, and colleagues in both spoken and written forms.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Uganda’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) curriculum and its practical application in classroom settings.
  • Valid certificate of good conduct and willingness to undergo background checks as part of child protection protocols.

Desirable

  • Diploma or Degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Additional training in special needs education, child psychology, or play therapy techniques.
  • Experience working in faith-based or NGO educational environments with exposure to holistic development models.
  • Skills in creating low-cost, locally sourced teaching aids using recycled or natural materials.
  • Ability to speak one or more local languages spoken in the Namutumba region to enhance communication with families.
