Reporting directly to the Head Teacher, this position begins in January 2027 and offers the opportunity to shape young lives in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily school devotion programs ensuring consistent, age-appropriate spiritual engagement that connects biblical teachings to student life experiences.
  • Design and facilitate discipleship lessons and mentorship sessions focused on developing Christian character, ethical decision-making, and personal faith journeys among learners.
  • Coordinate faith-based clubs and activities including Scripture Union gatherings, Bible quiz competitions, and prayer groups that foster spiritual community and growth.
  • Organize student outreach initiatives and community service projects that connect classroom learning with real-world application of faith and compassion.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records including academic progress, behavioral notes, and counseling documentation following school and national guidelines.
  • Manage student discipline processes with fairness and restorative principles, collaborating with teachers and parents to address behavioral concerns constructively.
  • Provide guidance and counseling support to students facing academic, social, or personal challenges while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and referral pathways.
  • Plan and execute co-curricular programs such as sports days, cultural events, and leadership workshops that promote well-rounded student development beyond academics.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between students, teaching staff, parents/guardians, and school leadership to ensure clear communication and coordinated support for learner welfare.
  • Assist in organizing school events including graduations, parent-teacher meetings, and special assemblies that strengthen community engagement and celebrate student achievements.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum Diploma in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from a recognized Ugandan institution with verifiable academic transcripts.
  • At least two years of direct experience working with children or adolescents in educational, pastoral, or youth development settings within Uganda or similar contexts.
  • Proficiency in English both written and spoken, with ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups and cultural backgrounds in school environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development principles and adolescent psychology applicable to Ugandan youth in primary and secondary education stages.
  • Basic computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for record keeping, report generation, and communication tasks essential to school administration.
  • Valid Ugandan national identification and willingness to undergo background checks as required for positions involving direct work with minors in educational institutions.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theology, Social Sciences, or Counseling that enhances capacity to address complex student needs and program development.
  • Additional certification in guidance and counseling, child psychology, or youth ministry from accredited Ugandan or internationally recognized training providers.
  • Experience working specifically in faith-based educational institutions or Christian schools that understand the integration of spiritual formation with academic learning.
  • Fluency in one or more local Ugandan languages such as Lusoga, Luganda, or Ateso to improve communication with students, parents, and community members in service areas.
  • Prior involvement in organizing student camps, retreats, or leadership conferences that demonstrate ability to create impactful out-of-classroom learning experiences.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan Ministry of Education policies regarding student welfare, discipline procedures, and child protection standards in educational settings.
