Job Overview
DREKCAP CONSULTS LTD is recruiting an Employee Engagement Officer for a busy manufacturing client in the FMCG sector. This full-time position is based in Uganda and reports directly to the Head of HR. The role focuses on enhancing employee experience, workplace culture and staff performance in a fast-paced industrial environment.
The successful candidate will design and deliver engagement strategies that boost morale, satisfaction and retention. You will work closely with HR leadership to align people initiatives with business goals in a manufacturing setting. As an Employee Engagement Officer, you will champion initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance workplace. Your work will directly support business growth by ensuring employees feel valued, motivated and connected to the company’s mission. The role requires a proactive approach to solving people-related challenges in a dynamic FMCG manufacturing context.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive employee engagement strategies aligned with organisational objectives and workforce needs.
- Drive employee satisfaction, morale and retention through targeted programmes and regular feedback mechanisms.
- Organise staff welfare activities, team building events and cultural initiatives to strengthen workplace relationships.
- Manage employee feedback channels, grievance handling processes and engagement surveys to gather actionable insights.
- Collaborate with the Head of HR on performance management and retention strategies to reduce turnover and improve productivity.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and high-performance workplace culture that values diversity and employee wellbeing.
- Design and facilitate recognition programmes that celebrate employee achievements and reinforce desired behaviours.
- Monitor engagement metrics and prepare reports for HR leadership to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Must be a Ugandan National with valid documentation to work in Uganda without restrictions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of four years of progressive experience in HR roles, with specific focus on employee engagement, relations or organisational development.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing engagement initiatives in fast-paced, industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and emotional intelligence skills with ability to build trust across all organisational levels.
- Experience in conducting employee surveys, focus groups and feedback sessions to diagnose workplace climate and engagement levels.
Desirable
- HR Certification from SHRM, HRMAU or equivalent professional body demonstrating commitment to HR best practices.
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology or Business Administration with focus on talent management.
- Prior experience working in FMCG, manufacturing or production environments with shift workers and operational teams.
- Knowledge of Ugandan labour laws, employment regulations and workplace compliance requirements.
- Experience with HRIS systems, engagement platforms and data analytics tools for measuring employee sentiment.
