Job Overview

Airtel Uganda is seeking a strategic leader to head its Enterprise & SME division, focusing on Airtel Money Payments and ecosystem partnerships. This role is pivotal in driving financial inclusion and digital transformation across Uganda. The successful candidate will oversee product development, partner onboarding, and revenue growth in the payments segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Numerically grow the existing client base in the assigned segment to meet business expectations through targeted strategies.
  • Identify and engage new and prospective business partners to increase payments use cases across utilities, education, and commerce.
  • Understand new client’s business needs and recommend the most appropriate Airtel money payments solutions and products tailored to their operations.
  • Manage end to end the new client onboarding process that includes acquisition, product design, development, user acceptance testing, contracting, client training, product usage and retention.
  • Work with the clients and the Airtel group to carry out market research on new product innovations and recommend revenue and customer experience impacting products and services in the assigned segment.
  • Develop initiatives, campaigns, products, and solutions to materialize business and revenue growth in the payments segment through data-driven insights.
  • Develop business cases to enhance new product development within the assigned segment and Airtel Money as a whole, aligning with corporate objectives.
  • Work with IT in prioritization of products and services based on technical feasibility, market demand, and strategic alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in product management, partner management, or business development within telecommunications or fintech sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams, launching payment solutions, and driving revenue growth in competitive markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, customer feedback, and financial metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building trust with diverse stakeholders including technical teams, external partners, and senior management.

Desirable

  • MBA or postgraduate degree in a business-related discipline would be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with Bharti Airtel Group or similar multinational telecom operators in Africa.
  • Certification in Agile Methodology, Scrum, or Product Management from accredited institutions.
  • Familiarity with Uganda’s regulatory landscape for mobile money and financial services, including compliance with Bank of Uganda guidelines.
  • Previous experience in scaling digital payment platforms and managing large partner ecosystems across multiple regions.
