Share an Opportunity Uganda (SAO U) is a Christian child-centred non-governmental organization dedicated to the holistic development of children within their communities. The organization is currently seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Programme Officer, Education, based in Kaberamaido. This role is pivotal in advancing SAO U’s mission by ensuring that education-related interventions are effectively implemented, monitored, and sustained across target schools and community structures. The successful candidate will report directly to the Programme Area Coordinator and will be responsible for the operationalization of education programmes, community engagement, and data management. This is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. The position requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to drive programme impact in the Kaberamaido district.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning and implementation of education programme activities in alignment with SAO U strategies and donor requirements.
• Collect, verify, and submit enrolment data each term from target ECD centres and primary schools to support programme tracking and evidence-based decision-making.
• Participate in routine monitoring of education activities, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, verification, and documentation.
• Maintain updated field records, attendance logs, activity reports, and beneficiary tracking tools for all project sites.
• Mobilize and sensitize communities, parents, School Management Committees (SMCs), and Centre Management Committees (CMCs) on education-related interventions.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with teachers, head teachers, ECD caregivers, and district education officials.
• Conduct regular community outreach to identify barriers to education and facilitate inclusive solutions for children with disabilities.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders to ensure child protection protocols are integrated into all education activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• At least three years of relevant professional experience in a similar role within an NGO, government, or international development organization.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management tools for reporting and monitoring purposes.

Desirable

• Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or a related field would be an added advantage.
• Experience working in the Eastern or Northern regions of Uganda, particularly in rural settings.
• Familiarity with child protection frameworks and disability inclusion practices in education.
• Previous experience in data collection, monitoring, and evaluation of education programmes.
• Fluency in local languages spoken in Kaberamaido district, such as Ateso or Kumam.
