This pivotal role focuses on deepening client engagement, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering customized financial solutions that align with both client objectives and the bank’s strategic goals. You will be instrumental in driving portfolio profitability while maintaining rigorous risk and compliance standards. The successful candidate will report to the Regional Head and operate from key branch locations within the designated territories. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the bank’s presence in emerging and high-potential markets across Northern and Western Uganda, making a direct impact on regional economic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with existing Business and Commercial Banking clients within the assigned North and Far West regional portfolios.
  • Conduct regular, structured client review meetings to understand evolving business needs and proactively offer tailored financial solutions that support client growth objectives.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities by actively networking, attending industry events, and leveraging the bank’s product suite to attract prospective clients.
  • Drive aggressive growth in key metrics including assets under management, deposit balances, transactional banking volumes, and non-funded income streams across the region.
  • Execute targeted sector and segment strategies to achieve specific portfolio growth and profitability targets set by the bank’s commercial banking division.
  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis, credit assessments, and risk evaluations to support sound lending decisions and safeguard the bank’s capital interests.
  • Structure appropriate lending solutions, including term loans, overdraft facilities, and trade finance instruments, that meet client needs while adhering to credit policies.
  • Collaborate closely with internal credit, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless service delivery and timely resolution of client queries or complex requests.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in Relationship Management, Business Banking, Commercial Banking, or Corporate Banking environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing customer relationships, achieving sales targets, and engaging effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Strong technical knowledge of banking products, financial solutions, lending structures, credit processes, and regulatory compliance requirements within the Ugandan financial landscape.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of professional credit applications and business proposals.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA, ACCA, or relevant professional certifications in banking and finance.
  • Specific experience working within the Northern or Western regions of Uganda, demonstrating local market intelligence and established networks.
  • Fluency in local languages such as Luo, Lugbara, or Runyankole to facilitate deeper community and client engagement.
  • Exposure to enterprise resource planning systems and advanced CRM software platforms used in major financial institutions.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive salary package with performance-based bonuses linked to individual and regional portfolio achievements.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your immediate dependents, including outpatient and inpatient benefits.
  • Generous housing allowance and transport reimbursement to support regional travel requirements across the North and Far West territories.
  • Access to structured professional development programs, mentorship from senior banking leaders, and clear career progression pathways within Stanbic’s global network.
  • Annual leave entitlement, pension scheme contributions, and a supportive corporate culture that values work-life balance and ethical banking practices.
