Job Overview

NFT Consults seeks an experienced Business Head to lead generator and motorcycle government tender initiatives in Kampala. This senior role focuses on securing public sector contracts and expanding commercial generator sales across Uganda. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director and oversee tender pipelines, key accounts, and sales team performance.

The position requires a proven track record in growing generator businesses and winning government tenders. You will develop commercial strategies, manage bid processes from assessment to award handover, and coordinate with technical teams on proposals. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution to drive revenue growth in the power generation and mobility sectors.

Your primary outcomes will be establishing a rolling tender pipeline for generators and motorcycles across ministries, agencies, and districts while identifying and closing generator customers in the private sector. You will own the complete commercial plan, maintain supplier compliance, and ensure timely, competitive submissions that meet all technical and financial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a rolling tender pipeline for generators and motorcycles across Ugandan government entities including ministries, agencies, districts and public institutions.
  • Monitor procurement plans, invitations to tender and prequalification opportunities while establishing legitimate relationships with procurement officers and end-user teams.
  • Own the complete bid process from assessing fit and eligibility to recommending bid or no-bid decisions, maintaining supplier registration and compliance documents.
  • Coordinate technical specifications and pricing with service leads and suppliers, submit bids on time, respond to clarifications and manage award handover procedures.
  • For motorcycle tenders, collaborate with the existing motorcycle team to confirm model availability, stock levels, delivery capacity, warranty terms and after-sales support arrangements.
  • For generator tenders, work with the service lead and suppliers to validate proper sizing, installation requirements, warranty coverage and ongoing service commitments.
  • Develop and maintain key account relationships with government clients, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for repeat business and contract expansions.
  • Lead, mentor and manage the sales team to achieve individual and collective targets while fostering a high-performance culture focused on government and institutional sales.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in sales and business development within Uganda’s power generation, industrial equipment or automotive sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully winning government tenders for generators, motorcycles or related equipment valued at over UGX 500 million annually.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a generator business from scratch or significantly expand an existing generator portfolio in the Ugandan market.
  • In-depth knowledge of Uganda’s public procurement regulations, tender processes and compliance requirements for government entities.
  • Established network of contacts within Ugandan ministries, agencies, local governments and public institutions involved in equipment procurement.
  • Strong technical understanding of generator specifications ranging from 5kVA to 1250kVA including applications, installation requirements and service considerations.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Experience working with motorcycle distribution, retail or after-sales services in Uganda’s growing mobility sector.
  • Familiarity with asset financing structures and ability to integrate financing solutions into generator and motorcycle sales proposals.
  • Previous experience managing sales teams and developing commercial strategies for B2B and government markets.
  • Knowledge of local motorcycle assembly processes and after-sales service networks to support tender commitments.
  • Fluency in English and Luganda or other major Ugandan languages to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience, performance-based bonuses tied to tender wins and sales targets achievement.
  • Company vehicle for business use including fuel allowance, maintenance and insurance to support extensive field work across Uganda.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for employee and immediate dependents through a reputable Ugandan medical provider.
  • Professional development opportunities including industry conferences, tender management training and leadership skills enhancement programs.
  • Generous leave package including annual leave, public holidays and compassionate leave in accordance with Ugandan labour laws.
