This pivotal role ensures efficient branch management, portfolio growth, and strict adherence to lending policies. You will lead teams to meet disbursement targets while maintaining high portfolio quality and exceptional customer service standards in a dynamic microfinance environment.

The successful candidate will act as the bridge between head office strategies and branch-level execution, driving daily market activations and ensuring that all lending, appraisal, and recovery procedures are followed meticulously. This position is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives in supervising teams, coaching Loans Officers, and continuously identifying opportunities for business growth and process improvement within the Ugandan SME landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Team Leaders and Loans Officers to consistently achieve branch disbursement and collection targets set by Platinum Credit Uganda.
  • Drive daily market activations across assigned branches to generate high-quality leads and expand the overall SME loan portfolio.
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics regularly, addressing any performance gaps promptly through targeted coaching and interventions.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company lending, appraisal, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery procedures to mitigate risk.
  • Chair the Branch Loan Committee meetings, ensuring complete documentation is maintained and company policies are strictly adhered to.
  • Conduct regular field visits to support customer acquisition efforts, loan appraisals, ongoing monitoring, and timely collections.
  • Monitor portfolio quality, track arrears closely, and implement timely recovery actions to maintain healthy asset quality ratios.
  • Train, coach, and develop Loans Officers on product knowledge, effective selling skills, operational processes, and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Commerce from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) loan products, market dynamics, and lending methodologies in Uganda.
  • Proficient computer skills including the ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite and basic branch management software efficiently.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with proven experience managing teams, handling conflicts, and motivating staff to achieve targets.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to interpret financial data, branch performance reports, and portfolio metrics accurately.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with customers, team members, and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a microfinance institution or banking environment, specifically within SME or consumer lending departments.
  • Certification in credit risk management, loan appraisal, or financial analysis from a recognized professional body.
  • Proven track record of successfully recruiting, onboarding, and managing the performance of sales or lending teams.
  • Experience conducting field visits for customer appraisal, monitoring, and debt collection in rural or upcountry Ugandan settings.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines governing microfinance operations and lending practices in Uganda.

What the Role Offers

  • A competitive and structured salary package combined with performance-based bonuses tied to branch achievements and disbursement targets.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your immediate family members, ensuring peace of mind and well-being.
  • Generous transport allowances and vehicle maintenance support to facilitate regular field visits and branch inspections across Uganda.
  • Substantial housing allowances or company-provided accommodation support for upcountry branch assignments to ensure comfort and retention.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, leadership training, and career advancement within Platinum Credit’s expanding regional network.
