Job Overview

Twyford International Uganda is seeking a detail-oriented Attendance Specialist to join their Human Resources team. This role is critical for maintaining accurate attendance, leave, and overtime records to support fair payroll processing. The successful candidate will contribute to building a productive and compliant workplace environment.

Based at Plot No.63 in Bamunanika Block 269, Kapeeka, Luwero District, this full-time position offers exposure to both HR and operations functions. The Attendance Specialist will work closely with the HR team to ensure all attendance data is processed accurately and confidentially.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for data accuracy and employee productivity. This role provides an opportunity to develop HR administration skills while making a tangible impact on daily operations through precise record-keeping and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately capture, maintain, and update daily attendance records for all employees across multiple sites and departments.
  • Process leave requests, including annual, sick, and maternity leave, ensuring compliance with company policies and Ugandan labour laws.
  • Monitor and record overtime hours worked, preparing reports for payroll processing and managerial review.
  • Generate regular attendance reports highlighting trends, absenteeism patterns, and compliance issues for HR and management teams.
  • Support payroll preparation by providing verified attendance and leave data to ensure accurate and timely salary disbursement.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all employee attendance and personal data in accordance with data protection principles.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of HRIS and attendance tracking systems, ensuring data integrity and system updates.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding attendance, leave balances, and related HR policies in a professional and timely manner.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in attendance management, payroll support, or general HR administration roles.
  • Proven experience working with HRIS platforms and electronic attendance systems such as biometric or card-based time clocks.
  • Solid understanding of Ugandan labour laws governing working hours, overtime entitlements, and various leave types.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data validation for accurate attendance tracking.
  • Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial settings where shift work and complex attendance patterns are common.
  • Familiarity with Ugandan Employment Act 2006 and related regulations on working time and employee entitlements.
  • Experience generating HR analytics and dashboards to support workforce planning and operational decision-making.
  • Knowledge of data protection principles and best practices for handling sensitive employee information securely.
  • Certification in HR administration or attendance management from a recognised professional body.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Luganda or other local languages to support diverse workforce needs.
