Job Overview

Jude Color Solutions is seeking a skilled Automotive Paint Sprayer to join our team in Gayaza, Wakiso. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work with a leading provider of branding materials and promotional items in Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, spraying, and finishing automotive surfaces to achieve professional, high-quality results.

As an Automotive Paint Sprayer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring vehicles receive flawless paint finishes that meet industry standards. You will work with various automotive paints, primers, and clear coats using professional spray-painting equipment. This position requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

The role involves both full-body and partial automotive spray-painting jobs, requiring proficiency in surface preparation, paint mixing, and colour matching. You will be expected to identify and correct paint defects while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting through sanding, cleaning, masking, filling, and priming to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Mix and match automotive paints to achieve the required colours and finishes using standardized colour charts and spectrophotometers.
  • Apply primers, base coats, paints, and clear coats using professional spray-painting equipment with consistent technique.
  • Carry out full-body and partial automotive spray-painting jobs on various vehicle makes and models to customer specifications.
  • Identify and correct paint defects such as runs, uneven finishes, scratches, and colour inconsistencies through sanding and reapplication.
  • Polish and finish painted surfaces to achieve a high-quality final appearance using appropriate compounds and buffers.
  • Properly operate, clean, and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Ensure completed work meets the required quality standards through visual inspection and thickness measurement.
  • Observe workplace health and safety procedures, particularly when handling paints, thinners and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the spray-painting work area to prevent contamination and ensure efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Proven practical experience as an Automotive Paint Sprayer or Vehicle Sprayer with minimum two years hands-on experience.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive surface preparation, paint mixing, colour matching and spray-painting techniques for various substrates.
  • Ability to use spray guns, compressors, sanding machines, and related equipment safely and effectively in a workshop environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship with ability to detect minor imperfections in paint finishes.
  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines while maintaining consistent quality across multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices including proper ventilation, PPE usage, and chemical handling procedures.

Desirable

  • Relevant vocational or technical training in automotive painting, motor vehicle body repair, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with water-based and solvent-based automotive paint systems including urethane, acrylic, and enamel formulations.
  • Familiarity with computerized colour matching systems and spectrophotometers for accurate colour reproduction.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior technicians in proper spraying techniques and safety protocols.
  • Experience working in high-volume automotive repair or refinishing facilities with strict quality control measures.
