  • Provide financial expertise and advice internally to the program team on expenditure patterns, cash flow, and financial risk mitigation.
  • Support learning and evaluation activities by supplying ad-hoc financial data for outputs analysis and value-for-money assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely EYDCD program financial documentation including contract commitments, disbursements, and cash flow projections.
  • Review all partner finance reports in the MIS to ensure they tally with source documents received and flag any discrepancies for resolution.
  • Ensure financial controls are maintained at program and partner levels to prevent misuse and promote transparency in resource utilization.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for donors and stakeholders in compliance with contractual obligations and international standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within NGOs or donor-funded projects.
  • Proven experience in budget monitoring, financial reporting, and conducting due diligence for sub-grantees or implementing partners.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar financial management systems used in development contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, tax compliance, and public financial management guidelines applicable to NGOs.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to program teams.

Desirable

  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification demonstrating advanced financial expertise.
  • Experience working with regional programs across East Africa, particularly in child protection, youth development, or violence prevention sectors.
  • Familiarity with grant management systems and donor compliance requirements from entities such as UNICEF, EU, or USAID.
  • Ability to train and mentor partner organization staff on financial management best practices and reporting standards.
  • Experience in conducting financial audits or preparing audit schedules for external reviewers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to collaborate effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, paid in Ugandan shillings with regular annual reviews.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including inpatient and outpatient care for the employee and immediate dependents.
  • Formal employment contract with clear terms, statutory benefits, and contributions to NSSF as per Uganda labor laws.
