- Conduct regular physical stock counts and investigate any variances or discrepancies between recorded and actual inventory levels.
- Identify areas of kitchen and bar wastage, then develop actionable strategies to reduce unnecessary costs and improve efficiency.
- Verify all purchase orders and supplier deliveries to ensure quantities and quality meet established standards before acceptance.
- Generate comprehensive inventory reports and variance analyses for senior management to support budgeting and forecasting decisions.
- Enforce strict adherence to all restaurant cost-control procedures, storage protocols, and internal audit compliance standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary and bar teams to forecast usage based on upcoming events, seasonal trends, and menu changes.
- Resolve inventory shortages, spoilage issues, and cost anomalies immediately through root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Diploma in Hospitality Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in inventory management, cost control, or stock auditing within a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, inventory reports, and financial statements accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proven track record of maintaining precise records in fast-paced environments.
- Fluency in English for effective communication with suppliers, department heads, and external auditors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic accounting software for data entry, report generation, and inventory tracking.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Finance, or Business Management preferred for advanced career progression.
- Certification in food safety standards such as HACCP or ISO 22000 to enhance operational compliance.
- Experience working with inventory management software like Oracle Hospitality, Micros, or specialized stock control systems.
- Familiarity with Ugandan hospitality market dynamics and local supplier networks to optimize procurement strategies.
- Certification in internal auditing or cost accounting from a professional body such as ICPAU or ACCA.
What the Role Offers
- Competitive monthly salary ranging between USh 300,000 and USh 500,000 based on experience and performance evaluations.
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your immediate family.
