Job Overview

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a highly qualified Grants Management Officer to support the Sudan Programme with a strong country focus. This role ensures compliance with DRC procedures and donor regulations across the grant portfolio.

The successful candidate will maintain accurate grants management systems, facilitate structured grant cycle processes, and lead internal coordination for timely delivery of key deliverables. This is a critical position within our Uganda operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of the grants management system (Dynamics) with all compliance documentation and tracking fields.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Grants Tracker to ensure accuracy of portfolio overviews, pipeline status, and reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure country office compliance with DRC’s Grants Management Guidelines across all active programmes and projects.
  • Support preparation, facilitation, documentation, and follow-up of grants meetings including timeline development and action point dissemination.
  • Monitor instalment schedules and support follow-up on disbursement timelines in coordination with the finance department.
  • Provide structured support to programme teams on donor rules, regulations, and operational compliance requirements.
  • Review draft donor reports for compliance, consistency, and alignment with contractual obligations and guidelines.
  • Support the Grants Coordinator in preparing concept notes, reports, and documentation for donor submissions and reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in grants management, donor compliance, or financial management within an NGO or similar organisation.
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations, grant cycles, and compliance requirements for international development programmes.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with experience in data management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, International Development, or Business Administration.
  • Experience working with Sudanese programmes or in the East African region, understanding local context and operational challenges.
  • Certification in grants management or donor compliance training from a recognised institution.
  • Experience using Dynamics or similar enterprise resource planning systems for grants and financial management.
  • Fluency in Arabic or local Sudanese languages to support programme coordination and communication.
