Job Overview
Yako Bank is seeking a qualified IT Internal Auditor to strengthen its technology governance and risk management framework. This role is critical in safeguarding the bank’s digital assets and ensuring regulatory compliance in a rapidly evolving financial technology landscape.
The successful candidate will lead independent assessments of information systems, cybersecurity protocols, and digital banking operations. By evaluating controls and identifying vulnerabilities, the IT Internal Auditor will help Yako Bank maintain operational integrity and protect customer data across all digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute comprehensive IT internal audits covering core banking systems, digital channels, and outsourced platforms.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of ICT infrastructure to identify potential threats and evaluate existing control mechanisms.
- Review cybersecurity frameworks, data protection policies, user access management, and system change control procedures.
- Maintain detailed audit working papers in compliance with professional standards and internal documentation requirements.
- Produce clear audit reports highlighting critical findings, control deficiencies, and actionable recommendations for management.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews of IT projects during development phases to identify risks early.
- Provide advisory support to IT and business teams on best practices for risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
- Support special investigations and technical reviews requiring specialized IT expertise and forensic analysis skills.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in IT auditing, cybersecurity assessment, or information systems control.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent IT audit credentials are highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, financial systems, and regulatory requirements governing financial institutions in Uganda.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools, audit management software, and standard Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration, or a related discipline would be an added advantage.
- Experience working within a financial institution or credit organization in Uganda is highly valued.
- Familiarity with Bank of Uganda regulations, financial technology standards, and local banking compliance frameworks.
- Certification in project management methodologies such as PMP or PRINCE2 to support IT project audits.
