Job Overview
Ibero Uganda, a subsidiary of the Neumann Kaffee Groupe, is seeking a Quality Officer to strengthen its coffee quality assurance team based in Kampala. The organization processes large volumes of Arabica and Robusta beans for export, serving international clients who demand strict adherence to quality standards and traceability throughout the supply chain.
The Quality Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that every batch of coffee meets both UCDA regulations and the specific specifications set by clients. This involves rigorous monitoring at each stage of processing, from receipt of green beans to final export, and maintaining detailed records that support transparency and compliance.
In addition to laboratory duties, the role requires frequent interaction with warehouse staff, logistics providers, and field teams to verify that handling practices preserve bean integrity. The position offers a dynamic work environment where attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a passion for coffee quality are highly valued and rewarded.
Key Responsibilities
The Quality Officer will be responsible for a range of tasks that safeguard coffee quality from the point of receipt through to shipment. These duties combine laboratory analysis, process monitoring, sample management, and physical inspections to ensure that all coffee leaving the facility meets the highest standards of purity and flavor.
- Conduct analysis and generate reports on Arabica and Robusta coffee for purchasing, export, and internal quality monitoring purposes.
- Monitor coffee quality at each processing stage, including grading, gravity tabling, colour sorting, mixing, and bulking, while recording observations for traceability.
- Assist in preparing, handling, and dispatching various samples such as approval/PSS, stock lot, type, shipment, and offer samples to clients, maintaining accurate tracking records.
- Manage and maintain the Quality Laboratory sample inventory, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and retrieval of all coffee samples for testing and audit purposes.
- Oversee off-loading, loading, and sampling procedures at warehouses and production sites, verifying that containers are clean and free from contaminants before coffee handling.
- Inspect export and storage containers or trucks prior to loading, confirming they meet hygiene standards and are suitable for safe coffee transport.
- Ensure that all processed coffee complies with UCDA standards and specific client requirements, coordinating with supervisors to address any quality deviations promptly.
