Job Overview
Agri Exim is seeking two Quality Supervisors to join their team in Kampala, Uganda. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining food safety and quality control standards across production processes. The successful candidates will be responsible for implementing and supervising comprehensive quality systems to ensure compliance with national and international standards.
In this role, you will work closely with production teams to monitor raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products. Key Responsibilities
- Implement and supervise comprehensive quality control and food safety systems throughout the production facility.
- Conduct regular sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify compliance with specifications.
- Maintain and monitor hygiene standards in all production areas, ensuring adherence to sanitation protocols and GMP requirements.
- Manage Critical Control Points (CCPs) as part of HACCP systems, taking corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Oversee packaging and loading operations to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity during distribution.
- Coordinate pest control programs and conduct regular inspections to maintain a pest-free environment.
- Ensure all measuring and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained according to schedule.
- Develop and deliver training programs for workers on quality procedures, food safety, and hygiene practices.
- Investigate quality incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain accurate quality records and prepare reports for management review and regulatory audits.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of two years hands-on experience in quality control within agro-processing or food manufacturing environments.
- Proven knowledge of international food safety standards including HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP requirements.
- Strong communication skills with ability to train staff and communicate quality requirements effectively across teams.
- Demonstrated people management capabilities including supervising QC technicians and coordinating with production staff.
- Proficiency in using computers for data analysis, report generation, and quality management software systems.
Desirable
- Additional certification in food safety auditing or HACCP implementation from a recognized institution.
- Experience working in export-oriented food processing facilities familiar with international market requirements.
- Knowledge of Ugandan Bureau of Standards (UNBS) regulations and other relevant local food safety legislation.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) methods and their application in manufacturing quality improvement.
- Previous experience in internal or external food safety auditing roles.
- Ability to work flexible hours including shifts, weekends, and public holidays as production demands require.
