Job Overview
Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Regional Sales Manager to lead commercial execution within an assigned region. The role reports directly to the Sales Director and is pivotal in driving sustainable sales growth, delivering profitability targets, and building strong customer partnerships across the territory. This is a permanent full-time position based in Uganda, offering the opportunity to shape the sales strategy of one of the world’s most iconic brands.
Key Responsibilities
As Regional Sales Manager you will lead and inspire the regional sales team to achieve exceptional sales execution and performance. You will set clear goals, motivate team members, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Regular coaching sessions and performance reviews will be conducted to ensure each representative meets their individual targets.
You will own and manage the region’s portfolio, ensuring delivery against revenue, volume, and profitability targets. This involves analysing sales data, identifying trends, and adjusting tactics to maximise output. You will also be responsible for forecasting accuracy to correct any deviations.
Monitoring sales and marketing performance is a core duty, and you will provide coaching and corrective actions where required. You will track key performance indicators, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and share insights with the sales director and other stakeholders. When performance gaps appear, you will develop action plans to close them and continuously improve sales effectiveness.
Sales resource planning, merchandising activities, and execution standards across all channels will fall under your responsibility. You will allocate resources efficiently, ensure that merchandising plans are executed at point of sale, and maintain high standards of shelf availability ensures the brand remains visible and appealing to consumers.
Effective management of third-party distributors and contractors is essential. You will negotiate contracts, monitor compliance, and work closely with partners to ensure they meet service level agreements. You will also conduct regular distributor performance reviews and provide support to improve their capabilities.
You will develop and execute channel-specific sales strategies tailored to modern trade, traditional trade, and outlet segments. This includes designing promotional plans, setting pricing frameworks, and determining appropriate pack mixes for each channel. Your strategies will aim to increase market share and drive profitable growth.
Driving implementation of local and national promotions, customer programs, and trade initiatives is another key responsibility. You will coordinate with the marketing team to ensure promotional materials are delivered on time, train the sales team on promotion mechanics, and monitor redemption rates to evaluate success.
Building and maintaining strong customer relationships is vital. You will identify opportunities for business growth, conduct regular customer business reviews, and perform frequent market visits to strengthen partnerships. By understanding customer needs, you will tailor solutions that enhance loyalty and increase order frequency.
Optimising revenue growth through effective pricing, pack mix, margin management, and customer segmentation will be a continuous focus. You will analyse profitability by SKU, adjust pricing tactics where appropriate, and work with the finance team to ensure margins meet company objectives.
Supporting demand planning by providing market and sales insights completes your role. You will share field intelligence, consumer feedback, and competitive activity with the supply chain team to improve forecast accuracy and ensure product availability.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification such as an MBA is considered an advantage but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive experience in sales or commercial roles within the fast-moving consumer goods industry.
Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets is essential. Experience managing a sales team of at least five members is required, demonstrating ability to lead, coach, and develop talent. Familiarity with modern trade channels, traditional trade, and distributor management in the Ugandan market is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills are needed to interpret sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency with CRM software, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to build relationships with customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
The candidate must demonstrate a results-oriented mindset, resilience under pressure, and the ability to travel frequently within the assigned region. A valid driver’s license and willingness to relocate if required are also important.
