Job Overview
SpeedCom Africa is seeking two Field Operations Managers to support the MTN Mobile Money Merchant Quality and Retention Project across Uganda. The role focuses on driving merchant payments growth, ensuring retention and reactivation strategies are executed effectively in the field.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead regional team leaders, translate national plans into actionable sales targets, and oversee quality control measures. This position requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of mobile money distribution channels in Uganda.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to shape the future of mobile money merchant services, influence national sales performance, and contribute to financial inclusion initiatives that benefit Ugandan businesses and consumers.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, regional team leads, and cross-functional partners such as marketing, finance, and IT to align field activities with overall project goals. Regular briefings and feedback loops ensure that strategies remain responsive to market dynamics.
The position is based in Kampala with frequent travel to various districts across Uganda to meet with agents, merchants, and stakeholders. A valid driver’s license is essential for navigating the field effectively.
Key Responsibilities
As a Field Operations Manager, you will be responsible for turning strategic plans into field results, ensuring that merchant payment targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and service delivery across the MTN MoMo ecosystem.
- Develop and implement MTN MoMo’s strategic and operational plans to drive merchant payments growth across all distribution channels.
- Translate quarterly and annual national plans into sales targets, budgets, and actionable goals for regional teams.
- Provide leadership to regional team leads by assigning tasks, facilitating training, and promoting SpeedCom’s vision and objectives.
- Conduct regular trade visits to monitor project progress, ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of reports, and address client issues.
- Coordinate trade activities and manage relationships with agents, super agents, master agents, merchants, and retailers to maximize effectiveness.
- Implement monthly and annual plans, monitor budgets, and maximize productivity while addressing any trade-related challenges.
Performance will be measured against quarterly merchant acquisition targets, retention rates, and the accuracy of sales reports. You will also be expected to mentor junior field staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance overall project efficiency.
