Job Overview

As the Manager, you will lead all departments, ensure consistent service quality, and drive continuously operational excellence. Your duties include supervising staff, managing budgets, handling guest relations, and implementing strategies that boost occupancy and maintain the club’s reputation as a preferred destination in the region.

The role also involves working with local tour operators, joining community projects, and seeking sustainable growth opportunities. You will represent the hotel at events, build partnerships that improve visitor experiences, and support Kabale’s strategic ongoing development while maintaining the hotel’s values of hospitality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance departments to ensure seamless service delivery and consistent guest satisfaction throughout the hotel.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards that align with industry best practices, enhance efficiency, and promote continuous improvement among staff.
  • Manage recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to build a motivated, skilled workforce capable of delivering exceptional service and achieving departmental goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, prepare accurate budgets, control operating costs, and maximize revenue while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly, ensuring resolutions that exceed expectations, encourage positive reviews, and foster loyalty that leads to repeat business.
  • Coordinate marketing campaigns, local partnerships, and promotional activities to increase occupancy rates, raise brand visibility, and attract diverse guest segments to Kabale Safari Club.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are upheld, conduct regular inspections, and oversee emergency preparedness plans to provide a safe environment for guests, employees, and visitors.
  • Lead efforts to adopt sustainable tourism practices, reduce environmental impact, and engage the community to position Kabale Safari Club as a responsible eco-friendly hospitality provider.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of three years experience in a managerial role within the Ugandan hospitality industry, preferably overseeing hotel operations, front office, housekeeping, or food and beverage.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, delegate tasks effectively, and foster accountability, ensuring staff performance aligns with organizational goals and service standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling clear interaction with guests, staff, suppliers, and local authorities while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
  • Solid understanding of hotel operations, including front office procedures, housekeeping standards, food service management, inventory control, and basic financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude, capable of addressing operational challenges swiftly, making sound decisions, and implementing effective solutions that improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Desirable

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism, or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Experience with property management systems, channel managers, and online travel agencies to optimize bookings, manage rates, and maximize revenue through data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of sustainable tourism practices and ability to implement eco-friendly initiatives such as waste reduction, energy saving, and water conservation programs.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, fire safety protocols, and first aid procedures to ensure a safe working environment for guests and staff.
  • Previous exposure to revenue management techniques, dynamic pricing strategies, and market analysis tools that support informed decision-making and profitability growth.
