Job Overview

Kampala Nile Resort is seeking a professional Driver to join their transport team at their luxury 5-star property in Mukono. The resort is located in the Kampala Industrial Business Park, Namanve, approximately 14 kilometers east of Kampala city center along the Jinja Highway. This role involves providing safe and courteous transportation services for guests, staff, and resort operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, punctuality, and customer service while representing the resort’s premium brand image. This position requires familiarity with Kampala and surrounding areas, excellent communication skills, and a professional appearance at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for guests to and from Entebbe International Airport and Kampala city center.
  • Resort shuttle service between the property and nearby attractions, shopping centers, and business districts.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform daily checks, and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Assist guests with luggage handling and provide courteous, professional service throughout all journeys.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, resort safety protocols, and maintain accurate trip logs and mileage records.
  • Support resort events by transporting equipment, supplies, and staff as required by the operations department.
  • Ensure passenger comfort by adjusting climate control, providing information about local attractions, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Coordinate with front desk and concierge teams to optimize pickup schedules and minimize guest wait times.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Valid Ugandan driving permit for light vehicles with a clean driving record and no major violations in the past three years.
  • Minimum of two years professional driving experience, preferably in hospitality, tourism, or corporate transport environments.
  • Good knowledge of Kampala city routes, major highways to Jinja and Entebbe, and common tourist destinations in the region.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and colleagues, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism at all times.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with the standards of a luxury 5-star resort establishment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working as a driver for hotels, lodges, or guesthouses in Uganda or similar hospitality settings.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge including checking oil, tire pressure, coolant levels, and identifying common mechanical issues.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and resort-specific software for managing transportation schedules and guest requests.
  • Certificate in defensive driving or advanced driver training from a recognized Ugandan institution.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid procedures and ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations while transporting passengers.
