Job Overview
Liquid Intelligent Technologies is seeking a dedicated Human Resource Officer to join their team in Kampala. This role is pivotal in supporting the company’s HR operations and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and Ugandan labor laws. The successful candidate will contribute to building a positive workplace culture while supporting recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations across the Uganda office.
As part of a leading pan-African technology company, the HR Officer will work closely with management to implement HR strategies that align with business goals. The position offers exposure to international HR practices within a dynamic, fast-growing organization. You will be based at the Kampala duty station and report to the HR Manager.
The role requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple HR functions efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth HR operations and supporting employee welfare initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable human resource statutes and regulations in Uganda.
- Maintain and communicate HR policies to staff on a bi-weekly basis and monitor adherence across departments.
- Execute distribution of the Employee Handbook and ensure all relevant HR documentation is properly filed.
- Support the implementation of HR initiatives aimed at enhancing employee relations through meetings and social events.
- Follow up on hiring motivation for approval and draft job adverts for various positions.
- Ensure vacancy announcements are posted on the Career Portal, LinkedIn, and track application status.
- Participate in screening applicants and support the recruitment process from shortlisting to interview coordination.
- Maintain records for reference checks and academic verifications to complete pre-recruitment formalities.
- Ensure eligible employees are onboarded onto company insurance covers and liaise with medical service providers.
- Organize and conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and improve retention strategies.
- Manage the leave system, maintain historical leave records, and ensure accurate tracking of employee absences.
- Interact with employees to provide administrative guidelines and gather feedback on workplace concerns.
- Support the induction process for new staff to ensure smooth integration into LIT-Uganda.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in HR operations, recruitment, or employee relations within a corporate environment.
- Solid understanding of Ugandan employment laws, including the Employment Act and NSSF regulations.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data management and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Desirable
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent from a recognized HR body.
- Experience working in a technology or telecommunications company with exposure to international HR practices.
- Knowledge of performance management systems and employee engagement survey tools.
- Experience in organizing workplace wellness programs, team-building activities, or corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Familiarity with payroll processing basics and statutory deductions in Uganda.
