Job Overview

Kampala Youth Labourers Association (KYLA) is seeking several dedicated Data Entry Clerks to join our dynamic Research and Data Collection Unit. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kampala, Uganda, designed specifically for motivated youth who are eager to start their professional journey. You will play a critical role in ensuring that valuable field data is accurately captured, verified, and stored for our various community development and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately input survey and field data into digital databases and spreadsheets using mobile devices or desktop computers.
  • Conduct structured interviews and administer questionnaires with respondents in various community settings.
  • Verify data quality by identifying inconsistencies, missing values, and errors in collected information.
  • Collaborate closely with field coordinators and supervisors to ensure timely completion of data collection assignments.
  • Organize physical and digital records, maintaining secure and systematic filing systems for easy retrieval.
  • Prepare simple summaries, reports, and basic administrative documents to support ongoing research projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Strong typing skills with the ability to input data accurately at a consistent and efficient pace.
  • Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in basic office software, spreadsheets, and standard data entry tools.
  • Effective communication skills for conducting clear interviews, explaining survey questions, and working within a team.
  • Customer service orientation, demonstrating professionalism and respect when interacting with respondents and stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in data collection, fieldwork, or basic administrative assistance roles is highly beneficial.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, showing a proven ability to spot and correct minor errors before submission.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic, ensuring consistent punctuality and commitment to assigned tasks.
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis concepts or monitoring and evaluation frameworks is an added advantage.
