Modern Living EA

Job Overview

Modern Living EA is seeking a highly organized and hands-on Site & Installation Supervisor to oversee furniture and interior installations across Uganda. This role is critical in ensuring that designed concepts are accurately translated into high-quality physical installations at client premises. The supervisor will act as the company’s representative on-site, coordinating between designers, production teams, carpenters, and clients to maintain seamless project execution. You will be responsible for managing multiple active sites simultaneously, ensuring that every installation meets Modern Living’s stringent quality standards while adhering to project timelines and budgets. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering exceptional craftsmanship and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise carpenters and installers on-site to ensure they remain productive, professional, and aligned with project specifications.
  • Coordinate between interior designers, production teams, and on-site crews to facilitate smooth communication and timely execution of installations.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage work schedules across multiple active sites to optimize resource allocation and meet project deadlines.
  • Validate finishing standards during and after installation to ensure consistent quality and identify any defects or deviations from design drawings.
  • Track differences between design drawings, measurements, and actual site conditions, documenting discrepancies and communicating necessary adjustments promptly.
  • Record and communicate client-requested changes before implementation, ensuring all modifications are approved and documented to avoid costly rework.
  • Ensure sites are properly prepared before installation begins, minimizing back-and-forth logistics and maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of furniture, materials, fittings, and tools delivered to each site, tracking usage, returns, and outstanding items for inventory control.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of carpentry, furniture installation, joinery, interior design, or construction fit-out works, with hands-on experience in installation environments.
  • Previous experience managing multiple sites or projects concurrently, showcasing strong organizational and multitasking abilities in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and follow-up skills with the capacity to handle competing deadlines and adapt to changing site conditions effectively.
  • Ability to recognize poor workmanship, finishing defects, and material inconsistencies, with the confidence to address issues immediately and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in taking precise measurements and interpreting technical drawings, floor plans, and installation blueprints to ensure accuracy on-site.

Desirable

  • Formal certification or diploma in carpentry, construction management, interior design, or a related field from a recognized Ugandan institution.
  • Experience working with interior design firms, furniture manufacturers, or fit-out contractors in East Africa, particularly in Uganda.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Trello, Asana, or Microsoft Project to track site progress and team performance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate diverse teams of carpenters, installers, and subcontractors under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and risk assessment procedures.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary with performance-based bonuses tied to project completion rates and client satisfaction scores.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your immediate family, including outpatient and inpatient services at partnered clinics across Uganda.
  • Transport allowance and fuel provision for site visits across multiple locations, ensuring mobility and flexibility for supervisory duties.
  • Free lunch and refreshments provided during working hours at all active installation sites to support long days of physical labor.
  • Opportunities for professional development through training workshops, certifications, and mentorship programs within Modern Living EA’s growing team.
