  • Perform routine maintenance on sewing equipment, including needle replacement, thread calibration, and minor mechanical repairs.
  • Inspect finished garments thoroughly for defects, loose threads, or misalignments before handing them over to clients.
  • Organize workspaces efficiently, storing materials safely and maintaining inventory of threads, fabrics, and notions.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise cutting, stitching, and detailing work.

Desirable

  • Completion of a certified tailoring course or vocational training program from a recognized institution in Uganda or abroad.
  • Experience working in a consulting firm, boutique, or large-scale production environment handling multiple simultaneous orders.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software or digital pattern-making tools for modern garment creation.
  • Knowledge of diverse fabric types, their properties, care instructions, and best practices for cutting and sewing each material.
  • Portfolio of previous work samples showcasing creativity, craftsmanship, and versatility in garment design and alteration.
