This role is central to delivering the signature #MestilExperience, blending professionalism with genuine warmth to create memorable stays for leisure and business travelers alike.
Based in Uganda, this full-time position offers a dynamic environment where you will interact with a diverse clientele, including high-profile individuals and VIPs. You will serve as the primary point of contact, proactively building connections and resolving concerns with efficiency and empathy to uphold the highest standards of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for guests, greeting them warmly upon arrival and ensuring a seamless check-in process that sets a positive tone for their stay.
- Anticipate guest needs and preferences by reviewing profiles beforehand, offering personalized services such as room upgrades, dietary requests, or special arrangements that exceed expectations.
- Resolve guest complaints and concerns promptly and professionally, using active listening and problem-solving skills to turn negative experiences into positive outcomes that protect the brand reputation.
- Coordinate with other departments including housekeeping, concierge, and dining services to ensure all guest requests are fulfilled efficiently and communicated clearly across teams.
- Manage VIP and high-profile guest experiences by developing tailored itineraries, arranging private transfers, and ensuring absolute discretion and confidentiality throughout their visit.
- Maintain accurate guest records and feedback logs in the property management system, documenting interactions and follow-ups to continuously improve service delivery standards.
- Upsell hotel amenities and services such as spa treatments, fine dining reservations, and event spaces by identifying opportunities during conversations and presenting options tastefully without being pushy.
- Train and mentor front desk staff and interns on guest interaction techniques, sharing best practices and reinforcing the company’s core values of excellence and hospitality.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution, demonstrating academic foundation in service excellence.
- At least two years of relevant work experience in a luxury hotel or premium hospitality setting, where you have directly engaged with guests and managed their expectations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to speak clearly, listen actively, and write professionally for emails, reports, and guest correspondence in a multicultural environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a calm demeanor under pressure, enabling you to handle difficult situations with tact and maintain composure when managing demanding guests.
Desirable
- Proven experience serving VIPs, high-profile guests, or members-only clientele in an exclusive setting, which demonstrates your ability to maintain discretion and deliver premium service.
- Familiarity with property management systems such as Opera PMS or similar software, allowing you to efficiently handle reservations, check-ins, and guest profiles with minimal training.
- Knowledge of the Ugandan tourism landscape and local attractions, enabling you to provide insider recommendations and enhance the guest experience beyond standard offerings.
- Certification in customer service excellence from recognized hospitality bodies or participation in leadership programs that highlight your commitment to professional growth and service innovation.
What the Role Offers
- Competitive monthly salary with performance-based bonuses tied to guest satisfaction scores and upselling achievements, rewarding your contributions directly.
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your immediate family, ensuring peace of mind and well-being.
- Accommodation allowance or discounted hotel stays at Mestil properties across Uganda and regional destinations, perfect for personal travel and family getaways.
- Structured career development program with regular training sessions, mentorship from senior management, and clear pathways for advancement within the hospitality group.
- Free daily meals and refreshments during shifts, plus a transportation allowance to cover commute costs, making your daily work experience convenient and cost-effective.
