Job Overview
Africa Pay is seeking an experienced Card Portfolio Specialist to join their team in Kampala, Uganda. The role focuses on driving growth, profitability, and optimization of the card business across two subsidiaries. You will work closely with internal teams and the client to enhance customer value propositions, accelerate digital adoption, and ensure sustainable portfolio performance through data-driven strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and optimize portfolio performance metrics including approval rates, spend growth, credit specialization, and pricing effectiveness. You will analyze trends and identify opportunities to improve profitability while managing risk exposure.
Design and execute data-driven customer campaigns aimed at driving acquisition, activation, and increased spend. These campaigns will leverage customer insights to create targeted promotions that resonate with specific segments.
Lead sales and marketing initiatives, including acquisition programs, promotional offers, and revenue optimization actions. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and timely execution.
Coordinate campaign execution across stakeholders such as fraud, operations, and sales departments to improve operational efficiency. Your role will involve streamlining processes and reducing bottlenecks.
Drive product innovation and refine card value propositions in collaboration with internal teams and the client. This includes testing new features, evaluating competitor offerings, and recommending enhancements.
Increase digital adoption across portfolios by promoting mobile wallet usage, online statements, and contactless payments. You will track revenue, cost, profitability, risks, and performance gaps to inform decision‑making.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should possess 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in card payments, banking, or financial services. A strong background in portfolio management and credit risk assessment is essential.
Deep knowledge of local banking regulations and payment ecosystems in Uganda and the broader East African region is required. Familiarity with mobile money platforms and emerging fintech trends will be advantageous.
Proven expertise in portfolio optimization techniques, including pricing strategies, credit limit management, and loss mitigation. You should have a track record of delivering measurable improvements in portfolio performance.
Experience in product innovation and digital adoption initiatives, such as launching new card features or driving digital channel usage. Ability to work with product development teams to translate ideas into market‑ready solutions.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, or Python. You must be comfortable interpreting large datasets and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management abilities, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams and building consensus. Effective communication skills are vital for presenting complex concepts in a clear manner.
