Key Responsibilities
\n
As a Mechanical Engineering Graduate Trainee, you will engage in a variety of technical tasks that support the plant’s operational efficiency and reliability. Your work will involve both office-based design activities and hands-on work on the shop floor.

- Assist in designing mechanical components and systems using CAD software, creating detailed drawings and 3D models for review by senior engineers.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, conveyors, and engines, following scheduled service plans and recording all interventions.
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with design specifications and safety requirements before handover to operations.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance of processing lines.
- Assist project engineers in planning mechanical tasks, including resource allocation, budgeting, and scheduling, while tracking progress against milestones.
- Ensure all mechanical work complies with Ugandan occupational safety and health regulations, preparing risk assessments and toolbox talks for the workshop team.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from a recognized university, with transcripts available upon request.
- Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals, including statics, dynamics, materials, and basic thermodynamics, applicable to industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor, capable of creating 2D drawings and simple 3D models.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and document technical work.
