Key Responsibilities
- Inspect construction quality and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.
- Identify, document, and report defects or deviations from plans promptly to the project team for corrective action.
- Witness material testing procedures such as concrete slump tests and cube strength tests to verify quality standards.
- Maintain accurate daily site records, including logs of activities, weather conditions, and workforce attendance.
- Prepare and update photographic progress reports to document key stages of construction for project tracking.
- Support the valuation of completed works by measuring quantities and verifying adherence to bill of quantities.
- Monitor environmental, health, and safety compliance on site, including PPE usage and safe work practices.
- Liaise with contractors and consultants to clarify technical details and resolve site-related issues professionally.
- Ensure all site documentation is organized, up-to-date, and readily available for audits or client review.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Economics, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ hands-on experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or Site Supervisor on medium to large construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of Uganda’s building codes, structural standards, and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Proficiency in using CAD or BIM software for reviewing drawings and identifying discrepancies on site.
- Excellent attention to detail with proven ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports and site records.
Desirable
- Experience working on commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects in urban Kampala settings like Namanve.
- Familiarity with digital site reporting tools, drones for progress monitoring, or construction management software.
- Previous experience in valuation support or interim payment certification processes on construction projects.
- Training in first aid, fire safety, or environmental management adds value to site safety oversight.
- Ability to read and interpret complex structural and MEP drawings with minimal supervision.
What the Role Offers
- Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Ugandan construction sector.
- Formal employment contract with statutory benefits including NSSF contributions and paid annual leave.
- Access to company-provided transport allowance or shuttle service for travel to and from the Namanve site.
