You will lead market expansion for sustainable aquaponics and hydroponics produce across Kampala and surrounding regions, connecting urban farmers with premium buyers.

The position targets mid-level professionals with existing networks in fresh food, hospitality, or FMCG sectors. You will bridge the gap between innovative urban farming operations and established commercial buyers, ensuring consistent supply chains and growing revenue streams for a rapidly expanding agritech enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute market expansion strategies to increase Urban Greens produce distribution across supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, and distributors throughout Uganda.
  • Negotiate offtake contracts and pricing agreements with buyers, ensuring favorable terms while maintaining sustainable profit margins for urban growers.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts including caterers, food processors, and hospitality chains to secure recurring revenue.
  • Conduct market research to identify new buyer segments and emerging opportunities in Uganda’s rapidly growing fresh produce market.
  • Coordinate logistics and supply chain operations to ensure timely delivery of perishable produce from urban farms to customer locations.
  • Present monthly sales performance reports and market insights to Urban Greens management and network stakeholders.
  • Train and support urban growers on quality standards, packaging requirements, and buyer expectations to maintain consistency.
  • Manage CRM systems to track buyer interactions, contract renewals, and identify upselling opportunities across the buyer portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Marketing, or related field from a recognized Ugandan university.
  • Minimum three years of proven sales experience in fresh produce, packaged food, beverages, hospitality, or FMCG sectors within Uganda.
  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating contracts and building relationships with commercial buyers in Kampala or other Ugandan markets.
  • Strong understanding of Uganda’s fresh food supply chains, buyer purchasing decisions, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with proficiency in Luganda or other local languages preferred for buyer engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic CRM software for sales tracking and reporting.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with agritech companies, urban farming initiatives, or sustainable agriculture projects in Uganda.
  • Existing professional network across supermarket chains, restaurant groups, hotel chains, or food distributors in Kampala.
  • Knowledge of hydroponics, aquaponics, or modern farming techniques and their market positioning in Uganda.
  • Experience managing key accounts or developing new business segments in competitive FMCG or fresh produce markets.
  • Certification in sales training, negotiation techniques, or agricultural business development from recognized institutions.
  • Fluency in additional Ugandan languages such as Runyankole, Ateso, or Lugbara for regional market expansion.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary of UGX 2,500,000 to UGX 3,500,000 depending on experience and performance, with quarterly performance bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and immediate family members.
  • Monthly transport allowance of UGX 400,000 to cover commuting costs within Kampala and surrounding areas for buyer visits.
  • Free lunch provided during working hours at Urban Greens demonstration farms with fresh produce from our aquaponics systems.
  • Professional development opportunities including sales training, negotiation workshops, and agritech industry conferences.
  • Accommodation support through housing allowance of UGX 500,000 monthly for employees relocating from other regions.
  • Flexible working hours with one remote working day per week for administrative tasks and buyer follow-ups.
  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing agritech company with equity participation options after successful probation period.
