Kweli Capital Uganda Limited is seeking an experienced Investments Officer to drive business development and operational excellence for its Amaka and Ensimbi Unit Trusts. The Investments Officer will report directly to senior management and collaborate closely with compliance operations and marketing teams. Success in this role demands both technical financial acumen and the ability to translate complex investment concepts into compelling value propositions for diverse client segments. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business development initiatives for Amaka and Ensimbi Unit Trusts by identifying and engaging institutional investors including pension funds insurance companies and corporate treasuries across Uganda.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of investment opportunities through proactive outreach networking events and strategic partnerships with financial intermediaries and professional advisors.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence on potential investments preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for the investment committee and client stakeholders.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks tracking key metrics such as returns volatility and risk-adjusted performance while ensuring compliance with fund mandates and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals family offices and institutional clients providing tailored investment advice and regular portfolio updates.
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure all investment activities adhere to CMA Uganda regulations internal policies and ethical standards maintaining accurate records for audits and regulatory submissions.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials and investor communications including fund factsheets performance reports and market commentary that accurately represent Kweli Capital’s investment philosophy.
  • Stay abreast of local and global financial market trends regulatory changes and emerging investment opportunities sharing insights with the team to inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance economics accounting business administration or a closely related quantitative field from a recognized university with strong academic performance.
  • Minimum 2 years progressive experience in financial services specifically in investment analysis portfolio management or business development within Uganda’s capital markets or banking sector.
  • Demonstrated track record of generating revenue or building client pipelines evidenced by measurable achievements in business development client acquisition or assets under management growth.
  • Eligibility for Capital Markets Authority Uganda fit and proper approval indicating good standing and suitability to perform regulated functions within the financial services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Uganda’s securities market structure including the USE regulatory framework institutional investor landscape and prevailing market dynamics affecting investment decisions.

Desirable

  • Chartered Financial Analyst CFA certification or equivalent professional qualification such as CPA ACCA or CIMA demonstrating advanced expertise in investment analysis and portfolio management.
  • Experience working with unit trusts mutual funds or other collective investment schemes understanding their unique structures distribution channels and investor demographics in the Ugandan context.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques using Excel Bloomberg Reuters or similar platforms to assess investment opportunities and construct detailed financial projections.
  • Established professional network within Kampala’s financial community including relationships with fund managers brokers lawyers and corporate advisors that can be leveraged for business development.
  • Familiarity with ESG investing principles and sustainable finance trends increasingly important to institutional investors allocating capital in Uganda and across Africa.
