Job Overview
The Savings Area Manager at FINCA Uganda plays a pivotal role in driving financial inclusion by expanding savings mobilization across assigned regions. This position focuses on strategic planning, branch coordination, and technology integration to meet institutional savings targets.
Working from Kampala, you will lead a dynamic team and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure sustainable growth in client savings. The role is ideal for a results-oriented professional passionate about microfinance and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate regional savings targets in collaboration with the Savings Manager and branch leadership.
- Develop actionable strategies to increase client numbers, savings volume, and cross-selling opportunities at each branch.
- Coordinate with the Alternative Delivery Channels team to set technology-based savings mobilization goals.
- Design and execute monthly strategic plans engaging both existing and prospective savers across the region.
- Guide and train branch staff on effective savings mobilization techniques and customer engagement practices.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to design and launch targeted promotional campaigns for savings products.
- Conduct weekly and monthly meetings with branch managers to monitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Prepare and submit weekly activity agendas, bi-weekly progress reports, and monthly achievement summaries to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field from a recognized Ugandan university.
- At least three years of progressive experience in microfinance, banking, or savings mobilization roles within Uganda.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding savings targets in a fast-paced financial services environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights for branch teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through successful coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with core banking or savings management software systems.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics preferred for candidates with strong leadership potential.
- Certification in microfinance or financial inclusion programs from recognized institutions such as the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority.
- Experience working with digital savings platforms or mobile money integration in rural or peri-urban Ugandan markets.
- Background in training or mentoring branch staff on financial literacy and customer savings behavior.
- Fluency in Luganda or other local Ugandan languages to enhance community engagement and client relations.
