Job Overview

Bondstar Adhesives Uganda is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead sales operations and drive revenue growth across the country. The role involves developing sales strategies, managing teams and expanding market presence in key urban and rural areas. This is a senior position requiring strong commercial acumen and leadership skills. The successful candidate will oversee sales performance, build distributor networks and implement market activation campaigns. Bondstar Adhesives is a Ugandan manufacturing company focused on producing quality adhesive products for household and industrial use. The Sales Manager will report directly to senior management and play a key role in achieving annual business targets. This position offers an opportunity to shape the commercial direction of a growing local manufacturer. The role demands strategic thinking, hands-on team management and a deep understanding of the Ugandan market. Candidates should be results-oriented with a track record in FMCG or similar industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual and monthly sales plans aligned with company revenue targets and market expansion goals.
  • Drive achievement of sales volume, revenue collection and market share growth across all product lines and regions.
  • Recruit, train and manage a team of sales agents, foot soldiers and representatives operating in major cities and towns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, stockists, dealers and key business partners to ensure product availability.
  • Plan and execute market activations, promotional events and in-store campaigns to increase brand visibility and product uptake.
  • Conduct regular market intelligence gathering to identify new opportunities, monitor competitors and adjust sales tactics accordingly.
  • Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs, providing coaching and corrective actions to ensure target attainment.
  • Prepare detailed sales forecasts, workplans and performance reports for senior management review on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Oversee customer acquisition, retention strategies and timely collection of outstanding payments to maintain healthy cash flow.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Marketing, Sales or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive commercial sales experience, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing sector in Uganda.
  • Proven track record in both B2B and B2C sales environments with demonstrated ability to meet and exceed targets consistently.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ugandan market including consumer behaviour, distribution channels and regional dynamics across major towns.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing distributor networks, negotiating with stockists and developing strategic partnerships that drive sales.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive sales plans, forecast accurately and lead teams to consistently achieve or surpass quarterly and annual goals.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience in motivating, training and evaluating sales teams for optimal performance.

Desirable

  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) certification or other recognised professional qualification in sales, marketing or business management.
  • Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or Master’s in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field from a reputable university.
  • Experience with sales automation tools, CRM systems and data-driven decision making to improve sales forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Background in launching new products or entering new geographic markets with successful go-to-market strategies and rollout plans.
  • Knowledge of adhesive products, industrial chemicals or related technical specifications to better support customer needs and technical inquiries.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local Ugandan language to enhance communication with diverse customers and field teams.
