  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely delivery of orders and communicate any delays or issues professionally.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including proper food handling, personal presentation, and sanitation practices.
  • Participate in team briefings and training sessions to stay updated on menu changes, promotions, and service standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of two years verifiable experience working as a waiter or waitress in a restaurant, hotel, or similar hospitality establishment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tables simultaneously during peak service periods without compromising service quality or accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to listen actively and respond appropriately to guest inquiries and feedback.
  • Basic numeracy skills for processing bills, handling payments, and calculating change accurately and efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods, often up to eight hours per shift, while carrying trays and moving between tables.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by the restaurant’s operating schedule.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a high-volume venue such as a busy restaurant, nightclub, or event catering service.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems commonly used in Ugandan hospitality businesses for order taking and payment processing.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage pairing principles, enabling you to make informed suggestions that enhance the guest dining experience.
  • Completion of a formal hospitality or customer service training course, demonstrating commitment to professional development in the field.
  • Ability to speak additional languages commonly used by tourists or expatriates in Uganda, such as Swahili or French, to better serve diverse guests.
