Job Overview

SMARTEC ELECTRONICS LTD is seeking a talented Videographer & Photographer to join their creative team in Uganda. The role focuses on producing high-quality visual assets that showcase the company’s multi-brand appliance range across social media, television, and print advertising. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment and contribute to impactful marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

As a Videographer & Photographer, you will be responsible for shooting premium product showcase videos that highlight the features and benefits of various appliances. This includes planning shoots, setting up lighting, and directing talent to capture engaging footage that resonates with target audiences.

You will also produce unboxing reels and store walk-through videos that provide customers with an immersive look at new products and retail environments. These videos require careful attention to detail and a creative eye for storytelling.

Post-production editing is a critical part of the role, where you will edit video content using color grading, sound design, and engaging text overlays. You will incorporate trending audio transitions to ensure the final output is fresh and aligned with current digital trends.

In addition to video work, you will capture clean, high-resolution lifestyle and studio photographs of multi-brand inventory for use in catalogs, social media posts, and promotional materials. Your photography should emphasize product quality and appeal.

Event coverage forms another key duty, requiring you to provide dynamic, real-time photo and video documentation of store launches, brand events, and promotional activities. You must be able to work quickly and adapt to changing conditions on the ground.

Equipment care and maintenance are essential to ensure consistent output quality. You will routinely inspect, clean, and store the company’s camera kits, lighting configurations, microphones, and stabilization rigs.

Finally, you will organize and back up digital media libraries systematically, making it easy for the marketing team to locate and use assets for future campaigns.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Film, Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field. This educational background provides the technical foundation and theoretical understanding necessary for professional multimedia production.

A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in videography and photography is required. This experience should include shooting product-focused content, editing video footage, and managing photographic assignments in commercial or retail settings.

Proficiency with industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom is expected. Familiarity with motion graphics tools like After Effects is a plus.

Strong knowledge of camera equipment, lighting techniques, and audio recording is essential. You should be comfortable working with DSLR, mirrorless, and cinema cameras, as well as various lighting kits and microphone setups.

Excellent organizational skills are needed to manage large volumes of digital assets, maintain accurate metadata, and ensure reliable backup systems. Attention to detail will help prevent data loss and streamline workflow.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities are important, as you will collaborate closely with marketing, product, and retail teams to understand briefs and deliver content that meets business objectives.

Fluency in English is required for understanding instructions, writing shot lists, and liaising with stakeholders. Additional language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
