KCB Bank Uganda

Job Overview

KCB Bank Uganda is seeking a detail-oriented MIS and Reporting Officer to join its Credit Department in Kampala. The role focuses on producing accurate management information system reports that support credit risk monitoring and strategic decision-making.

The incumbent will work closely with credit analysts, risk managers and IT teams to extract data, validate its integrity and deliver timely insights. This position offers exposure to central bank reporting requirements and the chance to improve reporting automation within the bank.

Key Responsibilities

The MIS and Reporting Officer is responsible for transforming raw credit data into meaningful reports that guide senior management. Accuracy, timeliness and compliance with regulatory standards are core expectations of the role.

Although the bank’s current systems require considerable manual effort to achieve accurate reporting, the officer will identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. Success in this role depends on proactive problem‑solving and strong stakeholder communication.

  • Generate the provisions report on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring all figures are validated against source systems before submission to senior management.
  • Design, develop and maintain MIS reports for the Credit Department, incorporating key performance indicators such as portfolio growth, delinquency rates and provision coverage ratios.
  • Provide regular reports to management on credit portfolio performance, highlighting trends in asset quality, sector exposure and early warning indicators of potential credit deterioration.
  • Analyse credit data to identify anomalies, outliers and emerging risks, then work with credit analysts to investigate root causes and recommend appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI or Tableau to track KPIs such as non-performing loan ratio, restructure rate and recovery trends.
  • Identify and highlight potential credit risks in the portfolio, proposing mitigation strategies such as tighter underwriting, sector limits or enhanced monitoring for high-risk accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank of Uganda reporting guidelines and IFRS9 standards, preparing all required schedules and submitting them within statutory deadlines.
  • Collaborate with finance, risk and IT departments to gather reporting requirements, validate data integrity and deliver high-quality reports that meet user needs and business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should possess a solid academic foundation in a quantitative or business-related discipline, complemented by hands-on experience in MIS reporting within a financial services environment.

Preference will be given to applicants who have worked with banking credit data, understand risk management concepts and are familiar with regulatory reporting frameworks such as those issued by the Bank of Uganda.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Statistics or a closely related field from a recognised university.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in MIS reporting, data analysis or a similar role, preferably within the banking or microfinance sector.
  • Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret large datasets, detect trends and produce actionable insights for management decision-making.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, advanced Excel skills and experience with visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling clear presentation of complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of banking operations, credit risk management principles and IFRS9 impairment modeling.
  • Certification in data analysis or a related field (e.g., Certified Data Analyst, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate).
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for automating data extraction, transformation and reporting tasks.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes, ensuring seamless integration between source systems and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple reporting deadlines simultaneously and maintain a high level of accuracy under tight timelines.

What the Role Offers

KCB Bank Uganda offers a competitive remuneration package designed to attract and retain top talent, together with opportunities for professional growth and skill development within a leading financial institution.

  • Attractive basic salary supplemented by a monthly housing allowance and transport facilitation to ease commuting within Kampala and surrounding areas.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance covering inpatient and outpatient care for the employee and their immediate dependents, accessed through a reputable health provider.
  • Generous leave entitlement including annual leave, sick leave and maternity/paternity leave, supporting work-life balance and personal wellbeing.
  • Access to ongoing training programs, e-learning platforms and professional certification support to enhance skills in data analytics, banking and risk management.
