The role ensures that all processes move forward on schedule, with clear accountability, even when the founder is absent. This position is pivotal for maintaining the discipline and reliability that underpin the company’s growth strategy.
The Operations Manager will coordinate with suppliers, buyers, warehouses, transporters, banks, and service providers to keep contracts on track and inventory moving smoothly. By maintaining detailed workplans, trackers, and reports, the role supports leadership decision‑making and helps identify risks or bottlenecks before they impact delivery. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills and a commitment to professional excellence.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Operations Manager will be responsible for aligning daily activities with the company’s commercial objectives, ensuring that every step from procurement to final dispatch meets quality and timing standards. The position demands proactive communication, meticulous record keeping, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining high integrity and attention to detail.
- Coordinate daily commercial and operational activities, ensuring that sourcing, procurement, logistics, warehousing, and contract execution proceed smoothly and on schedule.
- Support coffee sourcing and procurement by liaising with suppliers, obtaining quotations, and tracking purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory levels and timely delivery.
- Maintain operational workplans, trackers, records, and reports; follow up with suppliers, buyers, warehouses, transporters, banks, and service providers to ensure commitments are met.
- Prepare weekly operational reports for leadership, highlighting key performance indicators, contract milestones, inventory movement, and any emerging risks or delays.
- Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and delays early, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders to keep projects on track and minimize disruption.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, ensuring that all team members follow documented processes and maintain confidentiality and professional discipline.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of academic qualifications and hands‑on experience in operations, supply chain, or related fields. Strong analytical abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this dynamic environment. Candidates must demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently while contributing to team goals.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Commerce, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in operations, supply chain, procurement, logistics, commodities, agriculture, trade, project coordination, or commercial administration.
- Strong written and spoken English proficiency, with the ability to produce clear reports, emails, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, including data analysis, reporting, and record‑management; ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable
- Background in coffee, commodities, agricultural trade, warehousing, or logistics, with familiarity of export documentation and quality standards.
- Experience with project management methodologies, enabling effective planning, tracking, and execution of operational initiatives across cross‑functional teams.
- Knowledge of basic financial concepts relevant to trade financing, including letters of credit, invoicing, and payment reconciliation processes.
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, early‑stage environment while maintaining high levels of professionalism and confidentiality.

Comcof Group offers a supportive work environment where initiative and professional growth are encouraged. The Operations Manager will receive a competitive remuneration package aligned with market rates in Uganda, along with benefits that promote work‑life balance and employee well‑being.
