Job Overview
AsOne Ministries Uganda Company Limited seeks a dedicated ICT Teacher to join their primary and high school team in Namutumba, Serere, and Luuka communities. This full-time position begins in January 2027 and reports to the Director of Studies. The role combines classroom instruction with technical responsibility for maintaining the school’s ICT infrastructure.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, Christ-centered ICT lessons aligned with national curricula while ensuring the care, maintenance, and security of all computer laboratory equipment. This position requires nurturing students’ digital competence alongside their spiritual growth in a faith-based educational environment.
Working hours are full-time from 8 AM to 5 PM, requiring fluency in English and a minimum of two years’ relevant experience. The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in ICT or Education and demonstrates passion for teaching technology to young learners in a Ugandan community setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver lesson plans and schemes of work for ICT aligned with national and school curricula for primary classes.
- Teach engaging, inclusive, and Christ-centered lessons that build learners’ basic computer literacy, typing, and digital skills.
- Introduce learners to core ICT concepts including computer parts and functions, word processing, basic internet use, and digital safety principles.
- Provide remedial support where needed, following the school timetable to assist students requiring additional help.
- Assess and evaluate student learning through a range of formative and summative tools, including practical computer-based assessments.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities within the classroom environment effectively.
- Maintain and secure the school’s ICT gadgets and computer laboratory, ensuring all equipment functions properly and safely.
- Uphold the professional code of conduct for educators while nurturing well-rounded, spiritually rooted, and digitally competent students.
- Collaborate with other teachers and school leadership to integrate ICT across different subjects and learning activities.
- Stay updated with emerging educational technology trends and incorporate relevant tools into teaching practice when appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Diploma in Information and Communication Technology, Education, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two years’ proven experience teaching ICT or computer studies at primary or secondary level.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, basic networking concepts, and introductory programming or digital literacy tools.
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan national ICT curriculum for primary education levels and ability to align lessons accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage young learners and collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Commitment to Christian values and ability to deliver Christ-centered instruction that aligns with the school’s mission and ethos.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, ICT, or Computer Science would be advantageous for career progression.
- Experience with educational technology platforms such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy, or similar learning management systems.
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware troubleshooting and maintenance to support laboratory operations independently.
- Previous work in a faith-based or mission-driven educational setting understanding its unique culture and expectations.
- Certification in digital literacy programs like ICDL, Microsoft Certified Educator, or similar recognized qualifications.
- Ability to participate in extracurricular activities such as computer clubs or science fairs to enhance student engagement beyond class.
