Graduate Trainee – Accountant (2 No Experience Jobs) – NATGAS Uganda

Job Overview

NATGAS Uganda, a respected provider of LPG equipment, installations, and energy consultancy services in Kampala, is recruiting two Graduate Trainee Accountants to join its finance team. Key Responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions accurately into the company’s accounting system.
• Prepare journal entries, payment vouchers, and petty cash reconciliations on schedule.
• Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding reconciling items.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, and cash flow reports.
• Process supplier invoices, staff expense claims, and statutory payment schedules.
• Maintain organized filing of accounting records, receipts, and supporting documentation.
• Assist senior accountants during statutory audits, tax filings, and URA compliance work.
• Provide general administrative support to the finance team as required by supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.0 on a 5 point university scale.
• Ugandan national with strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and the double entry system.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic email correspondence.
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within a structured finance environment.

Desirable

• Internship or attachment experience in an accounting, audit, or finance office.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally.
• Knowledge of Uganda Revenue Authority tax obligations, PAYE, and VAT processes.
• Membership or student membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
• Strong numerical accuracy combined with good attention to detail and deadlines.
