Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, balance sheets, and income statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and efficient cash flow management.
• Conduct monthly financial reconciliations and prepare detailed variance analysis reports for management review.
• Oversee payroll processing for all restaurant staff, ensuring compliance with Ugandan tax laws and labor regulations.
• Generate regular financial reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights into revenue, expenses, and profitability.
• Collaborate with department heads to forecast budgets, monitor spending, and implement cost-control measures where necessary.
• Ensure strict adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements set by the Uganda Revenue Authority.
• Handle audit preparations and coordinate with external auditors during annual financial reviews to ensure transparency and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in accounting, preferably within the hospitality, restaurant, or retail sectors.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of Ugandan tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate income tax filing requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

• Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is highly advantageous.
• Previous experience working in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality setting, managing accounts for multiple outlets or branches.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software to integrate financial data with operational metrics.
• Strong communication skills in both English and Luganda to interact effectively with diverse staff and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small finance teams or mentor junior accounting staff during peak business periods.
