Job Overview
The Senior Analyst – Distribution & Channels at MTN Uganda plays a pivotal role in optimizing the MoMo distribution ecosystem. This position ensures that data-driven insights guide strategic decisions across agent networks, liquidity management, and channel performance. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, the analyst enhances operational efficiency and commercial growth throughout Uganda.
The role is central to strengthening MTN MoMo Uganda’s agent ecosystem by delivering actionable analytics. It supports visibility into performance gaps, liquidity distribution, and field execution, enabling timely interventions that sustain a resilient and active agent base across the country.
As a key member of the Commercial Operations division, the Senior Analyst bridges data and decision-making. The position empowers stakeholders with real-time insights, ensuring that float, cash, and commissions flow efficiently to agents while protecting high-value partners and expanding market reach.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze agent performance by territory, cohort, transaction volume, and commission earnings to recommend growth strategies.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports on channel performance including cash-in, cash-out, P2P, and rebalancing.
- Provide analytical support to the Senior Manager on liquidity insights, partner performance, and operational decision-making across Uganda.
- Track liquidity channels such as Dealers, Super Agents, Trust Banks, and Distributor Rebalancers to ensure reliable agent access to float.
- Conduct liquidity gap analysis at national, regional, territory, route, and site levels to identify underserved trading centres.
- Monitor agent activity levels, liquidity support intensity, and commission trends to protect high-value agents and grow active networks.
- Collaborate with Business Intelligence, Sales, Finance, Technology, and Risk teams to ensure timely visibility of performance and operational gaps.
- Support field execution and compliance tracking by analyzing agent onboarding, gaps filling, and customer experience metrics.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field with a strong academic record.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or channel performance analytics within a telecom, fintech, or financial services environment in Uganda.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain complex reports using Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar BI tools with high accuracy and speed.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in interpreting large datasets, identifying trends, and presenting insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly and influence decision-making across diverse teams.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, demonstrating adaptability and a results-oriented mindset.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, or Economics.
- Experience with MTN MoMo or similar mobile money platforms, particularly in distribution or agent network analytics.
- Familiarity with Uganda’s telecom and financial landscape, including regulatory frameworks and market dynamics.
- Proficiency in advanced analytics tools such as Python, R, or SAS, in addition to standard BI platforms.
- Previous experience in liquidity management, agent performance optimization, or channel strategy development is highly valued.
