Job Overview

The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) seeks two Programme Assistants to support livelihoods sexual reproductive health and gender based violence prevention activities in Kaberamaido district. This role involves direct implementation of project activities at community level under the guidance of the Programme Officer. Successful candidates will work closely with disability unions and community partners to advance inclusive development outcomes.

NUDIPU is an umbrella organisation advocating for persons with disabilities across Uganda with a vision of a just and fair society where they live prosperous and dignified lives. The organisation promotes unified advocacy for improved livelihoods and rights protection. This position offers opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in underserved districts.

The Programme Assistant will take lead in implementing iSAVE inclusive economic empowerment program activities while coordinating livelihoods SRH and GBV prevention initiatives. Responsibilities include mapping financial services supervising district staff and facilitating community sensitization meetings. This is a full time opportunity based in Kaberamaido.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support planning and development of livelihood SRH and gender programs through active participation in district level coordination meetings.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships linking project beneficiaries and disability unions to relevant networks and economic opportunities.
  • Coordinate all livelihoods SRH GBV prevention and advocacy activities at district level ensuring timely implementation according to project schedules.
  • Conduct mapping profiling and networking with financial service providers to identify inclusive financing options for target beneficiaries.
  • Take lead in implementing iSAVE inclusive economic empowerment program activities including training and follow up with participant groups.
  • Supervise and appraise district based staff including volunteer facilitators providing constructive feedback on performance.
  • Preside over community sensitization meetings on disability inclusion SRHR and GBV prevention ensuring accessibility for all participants.
  • Support program wide progress and impact assessments by collecting data and facilitating review meetings with stakeholders.
  • Carry out technical capacity assessments of district structures and establish specific work plans for the district union based on findings.
  • Map and continuously update actors involved in SRHR response at district level maintaining accurate referral directories.
  • Support team and partners in implementing disability inclusive SRHR activities through technical assistance and resource sharing.
  • Manage programme implementation follow up budget expenditures and assist in project planning activities as required.
  • Identify capacity building needs of partners on SRHR activities for disability inclusion and organise relevant training sessions.
  • Organize and facilitate training on SRHR and GBV prevention and response using participatory methods suitable for diverse audiences.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of a bachelor s degree in social sciences development studies or related field from a recognised institution.
  • At least two years of practical experience in NGO project implementation preferably in livelihoods health or gender programmes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disability rights frameworks and experience working with persons with disabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple activities maintain records and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with community members stakeholders and team.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications and ability to learn new software quickly for reporting and documentation.

Desirable

  • Experience with iSAVE or similar inclusive economic empowerment methodologies is an added advantage.
  • Previous work in SRHR GBV prevention or advocacy programmes particularly in rural or underserved areas.
  • Fluency in local languages spoken in Kaberamaido such as Kumam or Ataeso enhances community engagement effectiveness.
  • Training facilitation skills with experience conducting participatory workshops for adult learners in community settings.
  • Basic financial management knowledge including budget tracking expense reporting and financial accountability practices.
