Job Overview

RAW TECHNOLOGY LTD is seeking a qualified Accountant to join its finance team in Uganda. This role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The successful candidate will support the financial stability and growth of the company.

The position is based in Kampala and offers a competitive salary within the range of USh 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 per month. It is a full-time role suitable for mid-level professionals with at least three years of relevant experience. The role requires fluency in English and a strong commitment to ethical financial practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, and journal entries using accounting software to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, petty cash, and general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Manage petty cash transactions by maintaining accurate records, authorizing withdrawals, and ensuring proper documentation for all expenditures.
• Ensure full compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations by preparing accurate tax returns, maintaining tax records, and adhering to reporting deadlines.
• Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports for management review and decision-making.
• Support internal and external audits by organizing financial documents, providing explanations, and addressing auditor queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable processes to optimize cash flow, follow up on overdue payments, and maintain strong vendor and client relationships.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights, budget forecasts, and cost analysis that support strategic business planning and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution in Uganda or internationally.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management within a corporate or SME environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word.
• Strong understanding of Ugandan tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards as governed by the Uganda Revenue Authority and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently while meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable

• Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), ACCA, or CIMA would be a significant advantage for the role.
• Experience working in the technology sector or with fast-growing startups, demonstrating adaptability to dynamic business environments and digital financial tools.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and cloud-based accounting platforms, enhancing efficiency in financial reporting and data management.
• Strong communication skills in both English and Luganda, facilitating effective interaction with local stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
