Job Overview

Platinum Credit is recruiting five Branch Coordinators to lead SME loan operations across Kampala and upcountry branches. This role is central to achieving disbursement targets while maintaining high portfolio quality and strict compliance with lending policies. The successful candidates will supervise loans officers, drive market activations, and ensure effective branch performance.

As a Branch Coordinator, you will chair the Branch Loan Committee, conduct field visits for customer acquisition and monitoring, and develop team capabilities through coaching and training. You will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, improving processes, and ensuring timely recovery actions on delinquent accounts.

The position offers a chance to work with a leading regional microfinance institution that provides emergency loans to employed individuals across Africa. Platinum Credit has a wide branch network in Uganda and offers diverse products including civil servant loans, logbook finance, and private sector loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Team Leaders and Loans Officers to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly branch disbursement and collection targets.
  • Drive daily market activations in designated areas to generate quality leads and grow the SME loan portfolio consistently.
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics, identify gaps promptly, and implement corrective action plans to improve results.
  • Ensure full compliance with lending, appraisal, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery procedures as outlined in company policies.
  • Chair the Branch Loan Committee meetings, ensuring complete documentation, policy adherence, and sound credit decision-making.
  • Conduct regular field visits to support customer acquisition, conduct appraisals, monitor loan utilization, and assist in collections efforts.
  • Track portfolio quality, arrears levels, and collection efficiency, initiating timely recovery actions for delinquent accounts.
  • Train, coach, and develop Loans Officers on SME loan products, effective selling techniques, operational processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of Loans Officers to build a high-performing branch team.
  • Ensure effective branch operations including accurate reporting, excellent customer service, and strong internal controls over cash and assets.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth, process improvement, and enhanced portfolio quality through data analysis and market feedback.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognised institution.
  • Proven knowledge of Small and Medium Enterprise lending products, credit assessment, and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in using computers for loan management systems, MS Office applications, and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with experience managing teams of loans officers or similar financial staff.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities to interpret financial data, assess creditworthiness, and monitor portfolio performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and senior management.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in microfinance, banking, or financial services with exposure to SME or retail lending.
  • Familiarity with Platinum Credit’s loan products, policies, and operational procedures from prior engagement or training.
  • Experience conducting field-based credit appraisals, monitoring visits, and collections in diverse Ugandan market environments.
  • Certification in credit risk management, financial analysis, or related professional qualifications from recognised bodies.
  • Ability to speak multiple local languages commonly used in Kampala and upcountry business communities for better client engagement.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to upcountry branches and work flexible hours to meet business demands and market activation schedules.
