Job Overview

Anaya Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Customer Experience & Accounts Assistant to join their team in Kampala. This role combines front-line customer service with essential accounting and cash management duties. You will be the first point of contact for customers while ensuring accurate financial transactions and records.

The position requires someone who can balance friendly, professional customer interactions with meticulous attention to financial details. You will support customers in selecting personal care, cosmetics and baby products while handling cash, mobile money and card payments through the pharmacy’s POS system.

Success in this role depends on your ability to provide excellent service while maintaining strict cash handling procedures and accurate sales reconciliation. You will work closely with the pharmacy team to ensure smooth daily operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome every customer entering the pharmacy and provide friendly professional service tailored to their needs
• Assist customers with personal care cosmetics and baby products by asking appropriate questions to understand skin type sensitivities and budget
• Process all sales through the pharmacy’s ERP/POS system ensuring no off-system transactions occur under any circumstances
• Accurately receive record and count cash mobile money and card payments issuing correct change and maintaining a secure cash drawer
• Print and issue receipts for every customer transaction while performing daily cash-up and sales reconciliation procedures
• Support front-of-shop merchandising by ensuring displays are attractive clean organized and adequately stocked with current promotions
• Handle customer complaints calmly and professionally escalating matters to the pharmacist when clinical questions or prescription advice is needed
• Maintain strong knowledge of the pharmacy’s product range prices key features and supplier promotions to support informed cross-selling

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Certificate or diploma in Business Administration Accounting Customer Service or a related field from a recognized institution
• Minimum 1 year of experience in retail customer service cash handling or basic bookkeeping preferably in a pharmacy or similar environment
• Proficiency in using POS systems ERP software and basic Microsoft Office applications for sales recording and reporting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse customers
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail for cash handling sales reconciliation and financial record keeping

Desirable

• Experience working in a pharmacy healthcare or FMCG retail environment with knowledge of personal care and cosmetic products
• Knowledge of Ugandan tax regulations basic accounting principles and financial reporting requirements for small businesses
• Ability to speak multiple local languages commonly used in Kampala to better serve diverse customer communities
• Previous experience with mobile money processing and digital payment platforms increasingly used in Ugandan retail
• Basic merchandising skills and visual presentation ability to create attractive product displays that drive sales
