Job Overview

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Uganda Country Office is recruiting three qualified Drivers to support operations at its satellite office in Kasese, a strategic gateway to Uganda’s western conservation landscapes.

Each Driver will be responsible for safely transporting staff, implementing partners, visitors and programme supplies between field sites, partner offices and project locations across the district and beyond.

The role blends routine driving duties with logistical support, basic vehicle maintenance, and active participation in conservation fieldwork that protects forests, freshwater systems and wildlife habitats in the Rwenzori and Queen Elizabeth corridors.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport WWF staff, visitors and implementing partners using designated vehicles along approved routes and schedules.
• Deliver supplies, parcels and project materials to agreed field locations in a timely and secure manner.
• Support project officers with last-mile delivery of equipment, documentation and other items as required.
• Carry out preventive maintenance checks and promptly report mechanical faults, service schedules and repair needs.
• Load and offload materials carefully before and after every trip to designated destinations across the district.
• Maintain a clean, presentable and safe vehicle interior and exterior at all times with supervisor facilitation.
• Strictly observe Uganda traffic rules and ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
• Complete mileage logs, fuel records and trip reports consistently for full accountability on vehicle utilisation.
• Maintain a smart, professional appearance while on duty to reflect positively on the WWF brand.
• Communicate field incidents, emergencies and operational challenges to the supervisor for proper handling.
• Ensure the signed liability waiver is enforced so that no unauthorised persons use WWF company vehicles.
• Provide logistical support during workshops, community meetings, trainings and outreach events in field locations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• A minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a valid class B or higher driving licence.
• At least three years of professional driving experience with a reputable organisation in Uganda.
• Clean driving record with no history of major traffic offences or accidents.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan roads, traffic regulations and the western Uganda terrain.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine checks and identify common vehicle faults.
• Good communication skills in English and at least one local language spoken in western Uganda.

Desirable

• Prior driving experience with an NGO, conservation organisation or international agency.
• Defensive driving certification or additional professional driver training from a recognised institution.
• Familiarity with Kasese district roads, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Rwenzori region routes.
• Experience supporting logistics for field teams in remote or hard-to-reach community locations.
• First aid certification and ability to handle basic roadside emergencies safely and calmly.
• Basic computer literacy for completing digital trip logs, fuel reports and simple email communication.
